Art Students Experiment With Different Mediums The art department fostered ex- tensive creativity this year. Courses offered opportunities to learn ma- | crame, papier-mache sculpture, block printing, and stitchery, in addition to the usual water color, ink, oil, and acrylic creations. Students also bound books, made collages, and generally put in a great deal of time sketching. Use Of Laser And Computer Open To Science Students Harvard Project Physics and Physics Il were added to the science curriculum this year. This enabled both science-oriented and liberal arts- minded students to broaden their knowledge and answer the question “What is motion?” in a manner easiest for each to learn. More advanced students enjoyed the privilege of using the new computer and the laser. These have become valu- able tools to those students whose futures lie in the field of science. Miss Jeanie Ellison, Mrs. Liz Hedges, Mrs. Joyce Gaines, Mrs. Terry Orr Communications Departments Excel In 69-70 The Speech, Drama and Journalism media | received numerous awards of achievement this year. After a successful trip to nationals, the : N.F.L. District Champions brought home regular top awards under their new debate coach, Joyce Gaines. The Drama Department produced two outstanding plays— Star Spangled Girl” and “South Pacific’ besides participating in the One- . Act Play demonstrations. The Publications lost Mrs. Terry Orr at the close of the fall semester. Nanette Wiese now holds the position. New journalism sponsor, Mrs. Nanette Wiese, works in darkroom. 37
