Cats Make Tracks This year’s Wildcat Cindermen boasted the best all-around team Westchester has had in its three years. It featured such noted compe- titors as Frank Anderson, a national record holder in the intermediate hurdles; Mike McElveen, one of the state’s best Pole Vaulters; and the fastest mile relay team ever. Field events were the leading asset, com- posed of two or three fine athletes in each event. Many school records were broken and new ones set this year in track and field. Golfers Prove To Be Swingers Of WHS The fourteen members of the golf team put in long hours after school and on the weekends to carry on a winning tradition at Westchester. Play opened March 1 and 2 at the Northeast Tour- nament in San Antonio where the team met with rough com- petition. Coach Ronnie Laurence entered the golfers in eight tour- neys this year. With five return- ing lettermen, they came out high in district play, which be- gan in mid April. Dave Patterson and Elroy Marti were cited as the two stand-outs in golf.
