Spring Branch Westchester traveled to Spring Branch for the third dis- trict game. Despite a great effort the Bears won, 70-59, and handed ithe Cats their second district loss. Loren Clay with 10 points, was second to Gary Trent- ham’‘s 28. The next time the Cats met the Bears was a different story. Westchester came from behind in the second half to beat the Bears 54-49. Tom Bailey was high man with 17 and Steve Hor- ner tallied 10. Wildcats listen to Coach Holloway during a time-out.

ee 190 Steve Horner, (42) jumps above Spring Wood’s defenders for another two points. Conroe The Westchester Wildcats boasted their first district win with the defeat of the Conroe Tigers 62-48. Tom Bailey scoring 21 points, and Gary. Trentham with 16 were the top scorers that helped in handing Conroe their second district loss. On January 30 the Orange and White met the Tigers in a game that again ended in defeat for Conroe by a tremendous count of 83-60. Along with Steve Horner, who racked up 16 points. Tom Bailey was the “tops in points” for the evening with 24.

Loren Clay (21) goes for two while Tom Bailey (33) and Mark Hall (55) help during the district battle with Spring Woods In a tensely close game, Spring Woods barely slipped by the Cats with a 62-56 win. A capacity crowd watched the scoreboard change from minute to minute, which often showed a tied up tally. Wil Terry and Gary Trentham hit the basket for 18 and 16 points, respectively. In a second match w ith the Tigers, Westchester lost again to their tough rivals 50-70. Tom Bailey with 10 points and Loren Clay with 8, were named as two note- worthy players of the game. Mark Hall (55) aims for the basket as Memorial’s defense looks on.
