Memorial A 20-14 victory over the Mustangs of Memorial High School climaxed Westchester’s ‘Beat Big Brother Week.’ The Mustangs scored twice before the Cats bounced back late in the second quarter when Tom Specht plunged over the Ponies’ front wall from a yard out for the score. Steve Barton added the extra point making it 14-7 at the half. A minute and 26 seconds into the second half found the Wildcats in perfect scoring position as Wally Harris, Jeff Haas, and Dan Adams moved the pigskin to the one. Specht romped to the end zone for his second TD. Jeff Haas then evened the count with his PAT. Gary Hawkins intercepted a Memorial passing attempt running to the 44. Four plays later, Rick Davis caught a 29 yard toss from Haas for the last six pointer. The kick failed. Seniors Mike McCollum on offense and Gary Hawkins on defense were named out- standing players of the game. PLAY OF THE WEEK: Carey Boswell Carey Boswell (63) and Sid Bemus (77) work to halt Memorial offense. Tom Specht (20) leaps over Memorial defense for a first down.
