Aided by a defensive man, ‘Tom Specht sandwiches an Aldine ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage. Aldine The Orange and Whites squeezed by the Aldine Mustangs 19-7 for their fifth non-district win. In the second frame, Steve Fausett com- pleted a 72 yard drive in 16 plays tying the game 7-7. Jeff Hass followed with the only completed PAT of the night. After the second- half opener, Fausett bolted past left tackle putting the Wildcats in the lead 13-7. The last attack on the goal came with a hand-off from Haas to Frank Anderson who ran untouched for 13 yards. Jim Frasure was the outstanding offensive player of the week, while Sid Bemus was the defensive standout. PLAY OF THE WEEK: Jeff Martin 176 San Antonio Lee Undefeated San Antonio Lee pulled the covers off Westchester, handing them a 42-22 decision in the last non-district battle of the season. The Cats first touch- down came when Dan Adams moved the pigskin from 5 yards out, while later in the fourth quarter Adams scored again on a 3 yard scuttle. In the final minutes Rick Davis caught a 26 yard pass from Jeff Haas tallying another six pointer for West- chester. On a conversion pitch from Hass, Davis chalked up two more points. Despite the loss in points, the Orange and White had a 19-15 lead in first downs. The two noteworthy juggernauts of the week were Chuck Orwig on Offense and’ John Fiedler on Defense. Aldine MacArthur In the 1969 Homecoming game, the Cats success- fully deranked the MacArthur Generals 27-6. Action began in the third play of the game when Frank Anderson scored on a 52 yard run. Joe Swinbank’s fumble recovery at the 27 set up the second six pointer made by Steve Fausett. On a one yard plunge in the third quarter, Fausett scored the third marker, climaxing a 55 yard drive in nine plays. The final tally came when Tom Specht squeezed six yards to victory. Jeff Haas booted three-for-four on extra point attempts. Offensive center, Jim Fra- sure and defensive tackle, Sid Bemus, proved to be the two starring players of the week. PLAY OF THE WEEK: Frank Anderson Steve Barton, (52), practices his push-ups while Wildcat defense holds the French line. Beaumont French The Wildcats stampeded the Buffaloes of Beau- mont French, chalking up the highest score of the ‘69 season. On 58 and 15 yard runs, Frank Anderson ripped off yardage for 12 quick points. On a two yard scamper up the middle, Steve Fausett scored the third marker. Steve Wakin drove past the Buffa- loes for another two yard touchdown in the third frame, while in the fourth, Rick Davis received a 26 yard touchdown pass from Jeff Haas. The three PAT’s, completed by Haas were scored after the first three touchdowns. | Wingback Steve Heard (43) brushes past Bear defense in the Spring Branch game. Spring Branch Despite Westchester’s early lead in the first three frames, the defen- sive battle ended in an upset victory of 10-7 for the Spring Branch Bears. In the clash of unbeaten teams, the Cats broke the spell after a 42-0 shutout in 1967 and a 21-0 loss last year. On a 19 yard pitch from Jeff Haas, Laurie Jones hit pay dirt for the first time in Westchester history against the Bruins. With 1:41 remain- ing in the first quarter, Steve Barton toed an extra point making the count 7-3. The Bear’s only outstanding offense came in the final minutes of the game when they scored their single TD. The “Big Orange” racked up 208 net yardage to the “Branch Bandits” 183. Offensive Catman of the Week was Chuck Orwig, while John Fiedler took honors for the defense. PLAY OF THE WEEK: Laurie Jones Wildcats clash with Bears as Sid Bemus (77) dances for a victory!
