tiff I would like to take this opportunity to say that l am very proud to have been President of Westchester Higih School. It is certainly a part,of my life that I shall long revere. This semester, school spirit has been at an all time high. There was a capacity crowd at every football game. Your Yell King, Jim Cornfield, and Song Queen, Cozette Chattin, along with their cheer- leaders and Song girls, did a tremendous job. Q The Senate, under the very fine direction of ASB Vice-President Cindy Luke, ran very efficiently. The group showed fine enthusiasm and drive. itll? i The Boys' and Girls' Leagues did an excellent job with their obiectives. The Dress-up Assembly was great, and the Spinister's Hop was a great success. The Boys' League also put on a very fine car show. I would like to thank the officers of the Student Government class for their very fine work this semester. They all did their very best to make Westchester a better school, and l know the student I body is proud of them. In my three semesters in Student Government, I have never seen a finer group of people. I would also like to give special thanks to our great sponsor, Mr. Manos. I believe my education would not have been complete without his very fine leadership and never-ending work for the school. Thank you all, . School pride and school spirit are among the biggest prob- lems that any school now faces. lt has often been said that a new school lacks these two qualities. l say that Westchester is an exception. This semester the goal of student government was to unite the school into one body. ln carrying out this plan, we first wanted to make the students aware ofthe privileges and oppor- tunities we have that so many other schools dont have, With the gg' help of the Senate we proceeded to improve our sportsnights and semi-formal dances. We solved the clean campus program by reorganizing the Westchester Lettermens Club and having them work together with the other two boys' service clubs in one big crash program for a cleaner campus, As a result of its success, our boys' and girls' service clubs are now co-oper- ating as a unit instead of as separate bodies. With the help of the school organizations and the student body, it is my belief that the spirit at Westchester has been brought to an all time high, No longer does a Westchester team have to win in order to gain the support of the students. West- chester students now back their teams because they want to. Westchester students for once have a unified goal, that goal is to be the best school in the Western League and to have equal standings in the city. Westchester, during this semester, has held that standing, l know, as well as student government knows, that all the facets of Westchester's student body work well to- Lee Smief gether to maintain a high status in all that they do.
