Text from Pages 1 - 232 of the 1975 volume:

Man’s talents have been extended into numerous fields as a result of his imagination. The art of sculpturing, such as the construction of snowmen and sand castles, that developed within us as children was but a sign of the beginning of a new career. 3 ARTIS what makes man different from his animal ancestors. Man’s free expression illustrates the intricate makings of man’s mind, which singles him out from all the other creatures that inhabit our earth. The use of art to express man’s thoughts has been in existence from the paintings on cave walls to the works of modem artists. CELEBRA TION OF LIFE A basic need in man is to express his freedom. Freedom, the display of one’s inner feelings, is shown through vocalization, dramatization, and movement. In childhood it was expressed through the desire to continue the colors outside the lines of coloring books, but as adults it is unfortunately suppressed. 10 Although freedom may be denied to some, individuality is attainable for everyone who is willing to reach for it. Imprisoned men tend to express their differences more than the free man. In both men the expression may be a highly complicated procedure but will appear merely as a very simple action. 12 MUSIC, THEATRE, AND DANCE are expanded, multi-dimensional art forms. Art is no longer confined to pen and ink but is released into sound, action, and movement. Because another dimension is added, the work may become less intricate. However, with the addition of time and movement a broader art form is produced. 1 ...INTRODUCTION 18 ....... FACULTY 40.........SENIORS 94 ...UNDERCLASS 118 .........EVENTS 128 .... It’s purpose as a fund raising organization is to send students overseas during the summer after their junior year. Through last year’s efforts it was possible to send three students to Central American countries. Those students were Liza Fluke, Dane Krampitz, and Mark Lacey who spent their summers in Honduras, Guatemala and Costa Rica. These stu- dents in return hosted students from a Latin Ameri- can country during their junior or senior year. After romping to a 10-0 win in the opening round of the play- offs, the Dragons were stymied 3-0 by North Shore. Among those who gained post-season honors were Emie Fisher, All-County, and Don Proniewych, All-Division. Other players who contributed greatly to the team’s success were A1 Davis, Gary Burns, Mark Dunham, Pete Daddio, Bob Henenlotter, and Frank Cucinotta. The season’s highlight was probably the naming of Er- nie Fisher as MVP in the division. Coach Fiedler is hop- ing that the pre-season trip to Florida will help this year’s team run through the division. 169 J.V. BASEBALL Front: p. TENNIS This year’s tennis team showed strong performances in singles play. Junior Jeff Rudes and Fresh- man Andy Taylor, the two top sin- gles players, were able to compile a 36-2 record through the entire season. Senior co-captains Greg Lewin and Dane Krampitz added depth to an otherwise inexperi- enced team. The doubles players were inconsistent but were able to pull through when most needed. Prospects look relatively good for next season when the major part of the team will be returning to play again. 170 TENNIS Front: P. Pulitano, M. Martino, H. Miller, M. Caracappa, P. Ross. Back: T.
