I come from a country across over the Pacific Ocean. My home land is very small Islands but very many people are living there. That is Japan. What moved me most when I came here was that everybody spoke English! Of course I knew that before I left my home, but I was moved so much. Japanese speak Japanese. A person who can speak English is smart. You don’t speak Japanese, but you understand me. That is wonderful for me. When you go to Japan, you must see a lot of black hair and black eyes and must hear language that is so strange for you. Everything is strange, strange, strange! But I’m sure that you can see that a lot of people who like you so much as I do here. “THANK YOU!” Tomoko Asano Hi Guys, My name is Tom Tornes. I come from a place outside Molde in Norway called Torne. I want to use this opportunity to thank everybody who has helped me make this year such a big experience. Especially my host family, the Dolleys, the teachers at Westbrook High School, and all my friends that I always could count on to give me a hand or talk to if I had problems. See you at the class reunion Tom Hello, I am Julio Aguirre. I’m from Spain and 1 am study in Westbrook High School. This is my first year in United States and I spent very good time in this great country. I made a lot of friends, and I hope that I will see them in the future. I promise to be back for to see you. Your friend, Julio Aguirre Astrid Langcncggcr, Julio Aguirre Herrero, Tom Tornes, Tomoko Asano 10 Tom Mathews, Donnelly What about ye! I am Paul Donnel- ly from Belfast in Northern Ireland. Good luck to all me seniors heading off to college and if any of you are ever in Belfast, give me a call! Best wishes to all Paul Donnelly Hello, My name is Thomas Mathews and I am from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Firstly, I would like to thank all the people with whom my stay in Maine would not have been possible, especially the G.R.l.S. group (Community Relations in Schools). I would like to thank all the teachers and the many great, new and interesting friendships I have made with the students here at Westbrook High School. My stay is something I’ll never forget. It’s been wonderful. Thank you and I hope to see you at any reunion (hint). Thanks also to the Gillis family ... and don’t forget to write! Love, Tom Hello, My name is Astrid Langenegger and I’m coming from a relatively big city called Rosenheim in the southern part of West Germany. My trip to America was sponsored by the exchange program YFU Youth for Understanding. I want to thank my host family, the Bouchards, for making my year in America so special and a lifetime memory. Special thanks to my teachers here at Westbrook High School and to my friends for always being so helpful and understanding. This year has been a great experience for me and means very much for me. To the Sophomores we leave a touch of our “class” (you need it!), To the Juniors we leave the hope that you’ll be able to have successful parties without our help. Matt Douglas leaves his “34 x 36” jeans to Dave LeBlanc, Mark Wall leaves his blow dryer and a can of mousse to Matt Noyes (tell Todd the blow dryer still isn’t fixed), Erin Walsh leaves her endless supply of hairspray to Colleen Gillis, Michelle Langis and Jim Skvorak leave a bottle of Tylenol to Mr. Hayes, for future “math-loving” students, Skip Bertin leaves the “Beef’ to Cole Leavitt (and to Sherry Belanger who has the original “Beef’), The Senior Anatomy class leaves Wilma, Myrtle, FuFu, Phermelda, and Budweiser the cat to all future Anatomy students (good luck, you’ll need it!), Mr. Small’s 6th period math class leaves him the hope that at least one person next year will “be with him”. The senior guys leave Chad Butts the hope that he’ll find a friend next year, John Ranger leaves his car to anyone who thinks their car can make more noise, Marion Acheson leaves her vivacious squeals to Gloria Blake, Cindy Remick leaves her razors to Nicole Albert and Julie Young, Randy Frautten leaves his abilities to Dave Kimball in hope that he can achieve the same greatness. REMEMBER WHEN — ■. We won the State Championship in basketball? ... Students didn’t have to park a mile away from the school? ... We played heads down, thumbs up in elementary school? ... We had track-n-field day? ... We had the boat races in eighth grade? ... We went to school on Saturday and watched cartoons? ... Everyone had to go to the auditorium because someone sprayed mace in the hallway? __Dee’s Variety was open? ... We had our “dances” at Dunn Street? ... We had parties at Mike’s house whether he liked it or not? ... Seniors weren’t treated like children? ... You got in to more trouble for being absent than for being 3 minutes late? ...
