STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is composed of eight students, five seniors and three freshmen, who meet with Dean Dwyer on the first Monday of the month in Hersey 106. The Senate is composed of a representative from each house and club, depending upon the number of members. Thus, each collegiate organization and house are represented in the Student Association. The council works with the Residence Board and Miss Carter in initiating movements to give every student a well-rounded college program. It acts as a balance wheel between the college administration and the students by discussing and acting upon the sug- gestions of students and faculty. This year the association is under the leadership of Constance King with Ella Gardner, Dorothy Burton, Barbara Davis, Nancy Connors, Joyce Wilson, Joanne Greene, and Janice Hanninger as representatives. They sponsored their annual dance in the spring which was planned in collaboration with Portland Junior College Student Council. The association selected students who have made outstanding contributions to college life to be awarded special honors at graduation. It also compiled the Westbrook Handbook for freshmen.

STUDENT CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION The Student Christian Association welcomes every student into its activities regard- less of race, color, or creed. It strives to bring both students and faculty closer together by instilling within them a deeper understanding and appreciation of the beauty surrounding life. Members of SCA sponsor the chapel services, panel discussions with other college CA,s, fellowship hours, Sunday vesper services, prayer group meetings, a Christmas candle-light service, and other social hours. Delegates are sent to conferences sponsored by the Student Christian Movement of New England, not only to strengthen and en- rich their own lives, but to bring back and share with the rest of its members the experiences they have encountered. The officers for this year included: Vivian Wilson, president, Josephine Young, vice- presidentg Jadine Raynes, corresponding secretary, Joyce Wilson, recording secretary, Cynthia Ewell, treasurer, Cordelia Howe and Donna Hamilton, program co-chairmen, Betsy Hunter and Jeannette Croolcer, publicity co-chairmen, Ellen Bell, chapel chair- man, and Miss Marilyn Johnson, faculty advisor.

CLASS OFFICERS This year's senior class officers were elected last year by a unanimous vote of the stu- dent body. Acting again as president this year is Ann Laird, under whose guidance the seniors have put in an exciting and interesting year of activities. The two outstanding functions taking place this year under the supervision of the class officers were the Graduation formal and the Christmas formal. Many class meetings were held this year also to discuss pertinent topics of interest to the senior class. The freshman officers were elected at the beginning of this year and have taken part in many functions under the able leadership of Nancy Kaull. The freshman officers worked very diligently to make the Cotton Ball a success. Through the perseverance of Lorraine Ruel, Lois Nickerson, Beverly Morris, and Muriel Troy, the class dues were collected and placed with the profits made at the dances so that a sizeable sum remains in the treasury to be used by next year's classes.
