Feeding Time At The Zoo It has long been a tradition among students to complain about school food, but the kitchen staff does the best they can with what they ' ve got. Let ' s just hope that the saying, You are what you eat doesn ' t hold true at school. The cafeteria has different moods, which can be unfortunate for some people. For example, the student who either has a headache or needs to study an entire semester of biology in twenty minutes will not appreciate a jubilant chorus of Happy Birthday to you from one of the more enthusi- astic tables (usually filled with girls). These singers are usually told by a ta- ble of football players quite loudly to SHUT UP! , as they are trying to concentrate on their double lunches. As luck goes, the days when all is quiet on the lunch room front (which is not often) are the days when some poor kid drops his loaded, plastic tray with a resounding BANG in the middle of the floor. Of course, the echo of this humiliation is quickly replaced by the roaring applause of a standing ova- tion. Sometimes lunch isn ' t every- body ' s favorite period. (Far above)The sad side effects of a quick Westboro High lunch. (Directly abo- ve)The lunch line at its tamest. (Right)Stefan Marsland pauses to figure out what he just ate. 22

Let It Snow! What ' s the only difference between Westborough and some small hick town in Southern California? You guessed it; that unpredictable white stuff that falls from the sky. ..Snow. Up to the age of 10, it ' s a gift from God, a natural toy in which to throw, eat(when its not yellow), romp in, cre- ate dream forts, and glide over at 90 miles an hour. After that it takes on a new perspective. It is something which to shovel twice; once before the plow, and the second time after the plow inevitably comes and re-buries one ' s driveway. Snow is some thing to blow-dry and chisel off the car. It is also a parent ' s favorite excuse to why one should stay home on Friday night. When one says snow to the aver- age student, the immediate reaction is no school!! Scenario: Forecasters are predicting 5 feet, and one blows every- thing off and watches T.V. all night only to wake up late and find — black tar and warm sun. Then, there are those days when you wake up early, jump in the show- er, come out wide awa ke, refreshed, and one ' s little sister mumbles What ' s the matter with you-no school! . One crawls back into bed - a little damp. It ' s futile to try and deter- mine whether or not school is actually in session. The radio announcers, it seems, are always on ..and West Boylston . One usually remains clue- less till at least 20 minutes before 8:00. This year we have been particularly blessed with postponements during midyears, leaving us with even more time in which to put off studying ( there are no excuses for failing an exam having 5 days to look over mate- rial ) -and a white football season. To sum it all up - When You Least Ex- pect It, Expect It!!! 24
