Balcony Games If it wasn ' t for our balconies, many of our students would be lost. Most of us depend on these crucial concrete struc- tures as spots for socializing and general support (literally). Where else could a person make a friend, make a date, make a joke, or just lean in exhaustion for a while? Students even risk tardies in order to hang out and look cool for a few minutes between classes, which was especially hard this year with the reduced passing time. The different levels and locations of the balconies serve to separate class gatherings, the most established being in the infamous senior balcony. This par- ticular balcony is the most annoying when trying to use the stairs because this entails muddling through a sea of sen- iors. The balconies add greatly to the char- acter of the school Signs announcing ex- tra-curricular events can be hung here so that all students are sure to see them. These signs express the spirit of the school by congratulating our athletic teams, and anything that brings added spirit to the school is a great advantage. Off the Record The high school has many ways in which it attempts to raise the general morale of the students. Whether it be earning funds, or increasing school spirit or even just getting students to- gether to have a good time, our school likes to think we stick together and give each other support. In April of 1986 we had a great time at the annual Competition Day. Each grade sent out it ' s best (?) and struggled to win. The final victors were the class of ' ?8 (who else could it have been but the seniors?). Later, in June, the class of ' 87 ' s new yearbook staff held it ' s carwash. It was a great way to get the new staff together, and we had a blast! — Oh, the customers that we had seemed farily pleased with the results as well! Richelle Olterman and Katie Strecker have some good clean fun. 14
