Late last year, the editors, along with advisor Bob Kaplan (see pic- tures to left), selected a group of people who would be willing to help in the task of writing our log. The pictures on these pages show some of these people at work and having some fun along the way. Our trip to the beach was a good way to get the anchor out of the water. There was fun, sun and new friendships made (as shown in pictures). Our car wash not only brought further unity among us, but helped us financially as well. All sailors at one time or another are stricken with a familiar feeling known as seasickness. This feeling is brought on by many factors: never ending classes, forget- ting a physics lab was due or just wanting to be with friends. A reflection of these sudden attacks is expressed on the faces of some of our classmates. In the center picture we have a perfect example of extreme anguish which leads to the bizarre behavior of Mike Holmes and Brian Lemoff. Around the halls, we see the shocked look of Debbie Concaugh when her locker opens after only four tries (see picture at right), and some joyful expressions after an enlight- ening class (see Bonnie MacLean and Bob Twombly in photos below). Underclass- men who are not used to this type of thing may sometimes go overboard (see pictures on far right), while seniors have an easier solution — they simply give up (Dan Rob- inson). With seniors, however, it is usually hard to tell whether they are really seasick or not. Despite the strange reactions students get from being seasick, these off-guard moments helped add variety and humor to our voyage. The sailors ' voyage would have been lacking something if it had to be travelled alone — so friendships were made along the way. Good companions and friendly faces can be seen everywhere in school. In the picture at the right, Mike Marshall and Mike Charron wander the halls together, while Leslie Foulke and Amy Blanchard show what good friends are like (see photo below). On the opposite page, a cross-country group shows team spirit, and Doug Montgomery, E.J. Gorak, and Mike Power enjoy a good laugh. Hanging by the balcony are Kate Allen, Kelly Har- ney, and Carol Burman. Finally, there are those whose smiles look better by them- selves (just kidding, Mary!). 10 Through the portholes of the ship, we are able to see what really goes on below deck. Tom Bushroe (bottom left) shows us how he lost inches off his waist with the Dexatrim diet plan. Christian Gilbert (di- rectly to the right) shows the concentra- tion and determination that it takes to wash a car. Mike Demers shows us how Pearl Drops tooth polish helps him to- wards a whiter smile and fresher breath. Janine Copland (center photo) displays the cutsie smile that must be used to get the attention of the senior guys. Above to Janine ' s right are some of the senior guys reacting to her cutsie smile. Westboro ' s own Valley Girl (below) is shocked when she is introduced to the other side of punk rock . 9 12 A T uilit At Port It was announced that on May 19, 1984, our ship, the Ranger, would dock at port for a night of festivities. Everyone was excited by the prospect of the long promised weekend leave. Once the night of the prom finally ar- rived, couples enjoyed dancing to music provided by The Marsels, or just sitting back and watching everyone else. The band played a variety of songs to suit ever)one ' s tastes. For the most part, the whole evening went smoothly. There were, however, some exceptions. Billy Cambell, for in- stance, ripped his pants while breakdanc- ing and had to return home to change them. One highlight of the evening was the choosing of the Queen and her court. There were many possible winners, but the judges finally decided upon Heidi Reents, escorted by Brian Guagnini. In her court were Tatianna Hamawi and Jim Lyman, Patty Gallo and Mike Holmes, Kim Gi- rard and Steve DeVries, Mary Flahive and Steve Perry and Jessica Mitchell and John Yarosh. As the dance ended, other social gath- erings began. Many couples went to Chris Gilbert ' s party afterwards while others spent the rest of the evening alone. Friends joined together the next day at Hampton beach to continue the festivi- ties. For most of us, the Junior Prom holds many memories. Each person ' s are slightly different, but we all share this as a class experience that we will not soon forget. 14 Out (! utJitn9 ?7ptrit... 16 Ton Be sKifiT tl all ?J5 ({ecimyori h da?? of i jne} tp ei hh 17 On Friday evening, April 6, 1984, the First Mates provided cruise entertainment with a talent and variety show. Student stars , as well as potential comedians, were brought to the surface as a series of lively performances took place on stage. M.C. ' s Mike Holmes and Richie Maloney (picture at bottom right) led the show, which was full of surprises. The l4-act program included music, dance, and comedy. Musical selections ranged from hard rock (see Impact ' s Peter Oikle on opposite page), tunes by the Jackson 5 (Joe Federman, Doug Hanchett and Mike Demma at bottom corner) and vocalist Kim Girard (You ' ve Got a Friend — opposite page, upper left) to classical piano solos. Dance acts included a comic Sophomore Shout (picture at right), and jazz performances by Bonnie Carlson and Penny Smith. Comedy was the highlight of the show, however, and it took on a variety of forms. The Newlywed Game was featured, and skits included School recited by Mike Powers (opposite page, bottom), Priscilla by Jen Linnane and Marianne Seidman (far right corner), and special appearances by several anonymous First Mate sailors. Winners were announced at the end of the show. First place went to Lianne Wong for her piano solo, followed by twin singer-team Janet and Lorraine Fisher for second, and Neon Garbage Bags , a barbershop quartet featuring Mike Holmes, Dave Rand, Scott Kruse, and Garret Walker, placed third. Overall, the Talent Show turned out to be an interesting evening, and is thus recorded in the log of our travels. 18 Class Party-goers: Liza Rigsbee Kenny Kwiat Class Troublemakers: EiUeen Sullivan Bill Campbell 20 21 1 EILLEEN SULLIVAN DIDN ' T HAVE VOCAL CHORDS BILLY CAMPBELL WAS ORDAINED SUE BREEN WASN ' T IN A CLUB CAMILLA MANIFOLD HAD THE SAME COLOR HAIR FOR MORE THAN A MONTH KARA BURNS AND KIRK MERROW SHOPPED AT BRADLEES DANNY ROBINSON OBEYED THE SPEED LIMIT TAMMY COLANGELO DIDN ' T LIKE TO COMPLAIN MR. The navigators set their initial course and guid- ed them along every step of the way, using their special talents and instruments to al- low the sailors to reach the destinations awaiting them . . . The exceptional faculty at Westbor- ough High has enriched us all, academi- cally, as well as personally, with their car- ing attitude. This year we ' d especially like to honor and congratulate someone who has devoted twenty five years to students at Westborough High, Mr. Ballard. As a guidance counselor, he has provided valu- able counsel and advice to confused crew members and worried First Mates who have to make important future decisions. Mr. Ballard, you are a true navigator! Each and every member of the faculty has certain characteristics and distinctions which we will always remember. What would a day at school be like without the comedy antics of Mr. Sharpe, the quick wit of Westborough ' s swellest guy, Mr. Juszynski, or the sometimes puzzling hu- mor of Mr. Kasierski ' s shaggy dog sto- ry. Others, such as Mrs. Boyle and Mr. Cerasoli, have a flair for the dramatic, while clever sarcasm is the mark of Mr. Heckman and his devlish grin. With per- sonalities such as these, the sailors at WHS seldom find a moment that is ordinary or dull. The extraordinary people who com- prise our faculty are not limited only to the classroom. From his office, Mr. Vail, our skipper, runs a tight ship and keeps the crew in order. Westborough High has sorely missed Mr. Robert Kirby this year at his familiar post of Assistant Principle. Much appreciation goes to Mr. Me- whiney, who has taken over Mr. Kirby ' s responsibilities, and who has held firm in the face of flying food and other milder mutinies. When it comes to needing information, interpreting school rules, or just trying to find a helping hand, the secretarial staff is always ready. In study hall, Mrs. Howe has been a sincere friend to all of us with her interest and motherly advice. Many stu- dents who have never seen a library before would be lost without our skillful librar- 26 0 ian, Mrs. Libbey. And, when the dilemma of college finally rolls around, our guid- ance department is ready to handle the worst problems and worries. We have mentioned just a few of the individuals who have helped us to chart our course on our voyage through West- borough High School. The entire faculty is pictured on the following pages. We thank you all for preparing us to begin new voyages in search of unknown shores. A special thanks goes this year to Mrs. Nickerson and to Dr. Chapman. After years of service with WHS they have com- pleted their journey, and are moving on to other pursuits. Mrs. Nickerson has sailed with WHS for 20 years and has gained a more than seaworthy reputation. She has coached the girls basketball and baseball teams, and she was promoted from her duty as phys- ical instructor to Assistant to the Athletic Director. Dr. Chapman will be remembered too with highest esteem. She headed the Home Economics Department, and on her own she organized many clubs such as: Future Homemakers, HERO and a group called PACT. She took students on many two day conventions as well. In ad- dition to this, she was the founder of the ships Festival of the Arts. Both teachers will be remembered for the many contributions they have made during their years at WHS. 27 To the Graduates: So now we have come to that time when the Great Quartermaster tolls eight bells on the final watch of our four year voyage together. We can now chart only one course — that for a cruise down Memory Lane as opposed to the unknown waters over which we have sometimes sailed. As your ship ' s Captain, it is easy to reflect on the highlights of our trip: never before so many National Merit scholars; never before was such success achieved in athletics; your Booster Day victory this year; your introduction of the Powder Puff Game; your enthusiasm last Fall for Friday morning lobby serenades . Indeed, you were a spirited crew. Your class officers and Student Council leaders — the Petty Officers on our ship — have minded well the helm, have kept the rudder amidship and have steered a straight course to the final port called Graduation. After you receive your memorable souvenier on that day there will be only one voyage remaining — a cruise on the ship Vocation through the sea of Life. The Captain, on behalf of the ships officers called faculty, extends to each crew member a sincere hope that your trip will always find you in calm and joyous seas with a full sail and following winds. As the song says: Until we meet once more here ' s wishing you a happy voyage home . J. In with the girl ' s chorus are some tunn - looking girls who desperatel)- need a shave. This ear ' s musical groups have undergone changes in command. ()ur new Navigator is Mr. Bagget. who is in charge of the band. He has unending patience for he got the band to hit the yardline all of once. CWell, it was pretty close.) Along with Mr. P, the two directed the music department very successfully. This ear has produced a great number of invisible groups. We hear rumors that people do belong to these clubs, but no one can be sure. The) ' don ' t seem to have meetings. Seniors strike againi Those surprisingly well rounded group of students have returned to grace us with their presence on almost ev- er page. We had ne er realized that the ' could speak German, Spanish, French and even English! We thought that Grunt was the extent of their vocabular . On a more serious note, these clubs do have a meaningful purpose. Along with teaching the ship ' s sailors about art. music, language and literature, they get the underclassmen out of homeroom. As the year progresses, the roll call dwindles, some clubs even fade away, but are alwa s started up with the same enthusiasm each new year. 40 41 Freshman Class Officers President: David Tashjian Vice President: Kirsten Lindburg Secretary: Kristen Tepper Treasurer: Gary Peterson Junior Class Officers President: Ed Hutner Vice President: Kate Allen Secretary: Beth Viscardi Treasurer: Eric Tepper 43 44 45 Colur ' uarJ Captains. It ' s better to build young boys and girls than to mend men and women. — Mr. Mewhiney The athletic program is a very important phase of school life and all pupils are encouraged to participate as players and as spectators. Westborough has been proud of its past records but more important has been the emphasis placed upon sportsman- ship in the team competition with other schools. — Mr. Vail Up to n ow we ' ve shown all of the hard work and fun we ' ve experienced through- out our voyage. We have introduced those who have navigated our long trip. There is one element, however, that has not yet been covered. It is where hard work and fun come together in the form of compe- tition. Competition was very important to all of us aboard the ship. From the skipper down to the seaman recruits, the thrill of competition kept our spirit and morale alive even during rough seas. Competition was a special time. It was a time where everyone could get on deck and stretch his or her legs. The character of those involved in the competition was greatly enhanced by a sense of teamwork, sportsmanship and dedication to a common goal, victory. It was not onl} ' victory in the sense of win- ning but also a feeling of personal accom- plishment and self-satisfaction. These goals would not have been possible with- out the time and dedication spent by cer- tain special navigators. They kept us straight in our goals and provided the dis- cipline and training needed to obtain these goals. Along with these special navigators there were fellow crew members who pro- vided moral support which was necessary to continue the drive towards victory. They came to watch regardless of the weather, sharing with us our defeats as well as our victories. We would like to thank the navigators, the crew members and especially those who participated in the competition for making the voyage one which will be re- membered by all. 56 57 This year ' s Ranger Football team had a verv successful season, posting a 9-1 regu- lar season record. Led by BC-bound quar- terback Mike Power and ace receiver Ke- vin Collins, the offensive attack was un- stoppable. The offensive line, led by center Bob Twombly and Junior Tom Schaefer provided all the blocking that was needed. Defensively the squad was led by linebackers Todd Dick and Ed Longo and the whole secondary, who were outstanding. The defensive line came awa ' with many sacks and stopped many runs throughout the year. The two highlights in the Ranger sea- son were beating Algonquin in the Turkey Day game and, of course, the Super Bowl. On December 1, the Rangers squared up against the Fitchburg Red Raiders. The Red Raiders were the favorites, being from a bigger school and a bigger town. It seemed, however, that the whole town ot Westboro got behind the Rangers. A po- lice escort and a large crowd pumped the team up. They went out and blew Fitch- burg away 25-7. This successful season would not have been possible without the time and devo- tion given by Coach Jan Gebo, Coach Mike Healy and Coach Marty Hayes. It was their confidence and inspiration which guided the team to victory. 58 Seniors: Steve Moynihan, Scott Kruse, Steve DeVries, Mike Maljanian. Ed Longo. Todd Dick, Dan Goland, Bob Twombly. Kevin Collins. Mike Power, Tom McDonough. Doug Montgomery, E.J. Gorak. Jim Lyman, Mike Trethewey, Bob Hunter, Chip McGinn Maryvonne Izzard, Sheila Hinde and Heidi Reents introduced to the school this year the first annual Powder Puff football game in dedication to our friend Mr. Rob- ert Kirby. The game consisted of junior and senior girls trying their hands at touch football. In between the halves of this game, the Powder Puff Marching Band entertained the fans along with the cheer- leaders (junior and senior boys) from both teams. With the help of coaches Jan Gebo, Al Hulbert, George Kasierski and Jim Light- body, the girls put on an excellent display of teamwork, sportsmanship and fun. The seniors were led by Julie Lamarche and Heidi Reents behind the wisardry of their coach Jan Gebo. The juniors were led by the speed) ' Beth Viscardi and Chris Cho- vinard. The end result of this event was a 24-18 victory for the seniors and a VCR machine (and more) for Mr. Kirby. We would like to thank all who participated in the event and we deeply appreciate all that the} ' have done. 60 This year ' s field hockey team had an outstanding season posting a 7-4-4 record. They qualified for the Division 1 District playoffs. Unfortunately, they were edged out of the competition in the first round by a tough Shrewsbury team, 2 goals to none. The Rangers were led by Senior Captains Susan Breen (M.V.P.) and Heidi Reents (Most Outstanding Defensive Player). Senior Carol Malone contributed greatly to the team ' s success and morale. Defensively for the Rangers, Mary Beth Dominico and Kirsten Forrest, both first year goalies, played like seasoned veterans throughout the year. The team ' s spirit was kept up this year by many of the players. Senior newcomes Patricia Pastor (Most Improved) and Ju- nior Nancy Scott continually dreamed up new stunts to keep the team together. We had our ups and downs this year, coach O ' Neil said, but overall, it was a great season. Seniors: Heidi Reents, Sue Breen, Kathy Newey, Carol Malone, Patricia Pastor, Jen Menzel, Terri Cox 62 Seniors: Ed Sullivan, Dave Blasko, Jim Killeen Senior tri-captains Dave Blasko, Jim Killeen and Ed Sullivan led their team of eighteen young men to a 2-10 record. The runners were under the direction of Coach Clark Masters. Coach Masters was elated with the great turnout and was very proud of all his runners. Standouts on the team included senior Dave Blasko (M.V.P.), sophomore Tim Goland and ju- nior Dan Sullivan (Most Improved). Ed Sullivan, meanwhile, was the team comedian, always finding new ways to in- sult people (especially Bugger). One of the funnier moments in the sea- son occured in Nashoba. There, one of our runners (who shall remain nameless) got lost in the woods. After 45 minutes, he emerged form the woods with a record. The longest time to complete the course! My heart belongs to Cross Country. ' 64 65 The girls cross country team posted a 5-6 record this season. The team was made up of ail underclassmen who worked very hard and contributed greatly towards the team. The girls were headed by Coach John Doyle. Coach Doyle was very pleased with the girls. They had a lot of enthusiasm and never gave up during the season. The girls were led by the strong running of freshman Donna Straight and junior Michelle Baliunias. Donna has proven to be one of the strongest runners Westboro has seen. In one meet she missed the school record by just seconds. Sophomore Debbie Powell had a strong season cut short by injury. With all of the team hopefully coming back next year, the Westboro Girls Cross Country Team should prove to be a success. 66 The Boys Soccer Team like the girls, did not have such an outstanding season. Perhaps it was the lack ot support given to them by the school which led to their 1- 12-2 record. Or perhaps it was their consis- tent injuries throughout the year. Howev- er, as a tinal tarewell. they stalemated a high-powered Auburn team 1-1 in their tinal game. Seniors Brian Tompkins (goalie). Tim Ayres (injured for most of the season), and Ian Johnson were the captains tor the tear- less bunch ot individuals under the direc- tion of Coach Curt Snear. Tim Ayres promised to become the team ' s Power Forward and leading goal scorer, howev- er, his leg injury ended these hopes betore the season began. This gaxe junior Paul Anderson the chance to move in and earn the M.V.P. award. Seniors: Brian Lemoff, Mark Martino, Mike Lyons, Brian Tompkins, Tim Ayres, Ian Johnson 69 Captains: Julie Lamarche. Kim Bauer, Beth Viscardi The girls soccer team finished the year with an 0-18 record. This record, however, does not reflect the effort and pride exhib- ited by the team. The team was coached by first year man John Lowbridge and his assistant coach John Hayes. Both coaches were pleased with the girls because they stuck with it. Of the girls, Coach Low- bridge says, Even though we lost a lot of games they were nothing but winners out there. He is looking forward to the next soccer season, which will be the third year our girls have had a soccer team. Seniors Kim Bauer and Julie Lamarche and junior Beth Viscardi (the captains) were largely responsible for maintaining the positive attitude this courageous group of girls had through such a rough season. It was this attitude and determina- tion that helped the team to improve greatly as the season came to an end. And what of Westborough ' s third season.- In the words of Coach Lowbridge, ... WE ARE GOING TO GO FOR BROKE NEXT YEAR! What am I supposed to do now? 70 Seniors; Marianne Seidman, Mary Flahive, Jackie McVey Coach Corcoran ' s girls did not have too bad of a season this year. Their 8-5-0 re- cord shows that they know how to win. Senior captains Mary Flahive and Jackie McVey led their team both in spirit off the court and sportsmanship on the court. Meanwhile, sophomore Sheila Walsh proved worthy of the Most Improved award with consistent great play behind the powerful serve of Kate Allen. This years MVP award goes to Stephanie Foulke who also proved that she deserved this award. Coach Corcoran would like to thank the players and their parents for a good season. With only three seniors leaving the team, next year s team should do very well. Anticipation 11 73 Captains Mike Power and Kevin Col- lins have led the basketball team to a 10-0 mid season record. The team has dominat- ed each game with their fastbreaking, high scoring and rebounding. Senior Rich Ma- loney has done an outstanding job at guard. For the Rangers, Matt McSweeney and Doug Montgomery have done well at the center position. Mike Trethewey, who was injured during the football season has come to form. The team is having a lot of fun this year, and hopes to go all the way to the states so the Moonlighters can sing in the Centrum. 4 74 In a disappointing season tor the girls, who presently post a 4-8 record. Coach Young is still proud of his girls ' hard work. Even though hampered by injuries, co-captains Cindy Devaux and Carole Ma- lone have kept their team up for every game, regardless of who they were play- ing. On offense, junior Gretchen Reents. senior Susan Breene and co-captain Ma- lone figured highly in most games; where- as co-captain Cindy Devaux and junior Lori Matuzek led the defense. Though their record is not one to brag about, their season is. Many of their losses were tough 1-4 point games which could very easily have been victories. The girls began the season 0-3. losing to the 3 non- league opponents (Holy Name, South- bridge and then Holy Name again) that they play every year. Therefore, in the league the girls are 4-5 with high hopes to break the five hundred mark. We wish these girls the best of luck in attaining their goal. Seniors: Diana Hayes. Cindy Devaux. Carol Maione. Terri Cox. Sue Breen, Jen Linnaine 76 This year ' s hockey team had a very dis- appointing season. Before his first game. Coach Al Cooiidge found himself without the veteran talents of senior Bill Campbell. With Bill gone, senior goalie Bob Hunter and senior Jim Brown took charge of the team. Suffering tough but close losses throughout the season, Cooiidge called on sophomores Steve Tepper and Kevin Grant to put some points on the board and change the season around. Brian Cac- ciapouti (senior) also figured in on some key goals this season. Spirit was harder to keep up on the team than in the stands. Fellow classmates travelled to North Star and other rinks to watch their team compete as best as they could. The pla ers and the coaches thank ou fans for giving them support through- out the season, even when the going got rough. 78 79 Mrs. Borek s girls showed a lot of tal- ent and courage this year. Senior Steph- anie Hobbv went down early with an arm injury, but did all she could to make a come back, competing one-handed near the end of the season. Sheila Hinde. also a senior, helped to keep up the team ' s mo- rale during the long season. Mrs. Borek was pleased with the large turnout ot girls on the first day of practice. The team shows much potential for next year and promises to capitalize on it. Ending the season with a 0-10 record, the girls went from meet to meet in high spirits hoping to come home with a victo- ry — if not by winning the meet then by winning personal challenges. We wish them the best of luck in the future and hope there are no more injuries to come. SENIORS: Sheila Hinde, Stephanie Hobby 80 This year ' s cheerleaders have really helped capture the school spirit. New faces and new cheers (ready aim fire . . really made watching them tun. The great football and basketball teams gave them something extra to cheer about. The cap- tains this year were Kathy Coffee and Vicki Belanger. Seniors Lisa McTighe and Lenore Pulaksi provided extra antics to keep the crowd happy. Overall it was a fun and exciting season for the girls and next year should be the same. 82 Way back in September of 1981, the first mates began their voyage on the Ranger . As time went on many sailors were recruited to help everyone on the journey, year after year. Each crew added the joy, friendships and variety that helped to make this journey so special. Earlier this year, the seaman recruits of 1984 joined the voyage. At first, many of them were easily confused and frightened by the unfamiliar surroundings. Where are we going.- and What are we sup- posed to do.- were questions asked by most of the first year sailors. Often times these new recruits were afraid that the ship was going to sink. However, we ' re sure that they ' ll glide smoothly into their sec- ond year. This second year is already winding down for the recruits of 1983- By now these sailors have grown accustomed to the ship and have adapted to the occasion- al rough weather they encounter in their daily lives while traveling. They feel a cer- tain confidence in the ship and, although they ' re still not exactly sure of where the ship is going, they trust in the expertise of the Navigators. They have grown accus- tomed to the routine of daily work and all the responsibilities that are necessary for running a ship of this sort. Meanwhile, the recruits of 1982, in their third year on the Ranger , are becoming more daring and ambitious. Hardwork is the order of the day for these experienced sailors, as they prepare for the coming promotion to first mates the following year. Because of the increasing responsi- bility and the harder work load, many Ju- niors experience a pre-first mate seasick- ness near the end of their third year. This illness is characterized by tardiness to at- tending the duties of the ship, group breakfasts and loud noise-making demon- strations in the mornings, and a greater fondness for the ocean and the sun and the outdoor life. We, the logkeepers, hope that all of our fellow crew members have grown from their experiences on the Ranger . It is our wish that they will continue to explore the unchartered ocean of life, even after they find the best routes on which to trav- el. 84 89 C. Caldwell B. Chouinard B. Chrislu C. CliDstie M. Our first course of action was to organize several senior breakfasts while we were still juniors (see picture right). They got off to a rough start at first, for not everyone showed up. But our last sen- ior breakfast was participated in widely and went as smooth as jello (just ask Ab- dow ' s). We also challenged the Naviga- tors to a Softball game last year. Our class won, of course, but the faculty showed their seaworthiness by being strong com- petitors (see above photo). Last fall, several female First Mates put together their own version of stretching the sea legs (or should we say switching the sea legs . ' ' ): the Powder Puff football game. All the proceeds, over SIOOO, went to benefit Mr. Kirby. Meanwhile, in real football, several of our own senior s helped our first-place varsity football team secure its first Superbowl victory. These guys really deserve the title of First Mates! Our class continued to show high spir- its right through the holidays. For the first time our class won Booster Week (see photo above right). Another example is found in our activities on the day before Christmas vacation. Unlike other ' ears, this was a full day of school — no gettin g out at 11:00. Evidently the administration and faculty wanted to enjoy our elfing activities for a longer period of time (see picture top far right). When March finally rolled around, we turned in our sailor uniforms for those of thugs and hatbox dancers as we put on our production of Guys and Dolls . A superb performance was given by Bonnie (Adelaide) Carlson, Mike (Nathan) Holmes, Stacy (Sarah) Dapolite, and Doug (Sky) Montgomery. We are now ready to pass on control of the Ranger to the Juniors as we set sail on our individual ships after graduation. A word of thanks is due to all those who have helped us on our journey on the Ranger — the navigators, the seaman re- cruits and everybody else. For we were simple freshmen then, and seniors held their sway; Though young and shy, we knew for sure we d rule the school one day. At turtle ' s pace, we learned so much we did not know. And many thought we might survive, though far we had to go. As we all became as one, our leaders led us well. We joined our forces, working hard, but only time would tell. We remember, we remember, returning in the fall As sophomores, we looked down on some, yet seniors were most tall. We chose and purchased our class rings with special pride and glee. Again we picked our officers who served us loyally. We remember, we remember, our junior year — what fun. S.A.T. ' s and talent show, we had only just begun. In May, there came a special night; we planned and worked with care. The Junior Prom saw each boy with a Cinderella there. In June when all the seniors left, with courage yet with fear, We knew the moment had arrived; we faced our senior year. We remember, we remember, this year of trial and test. We stood, the class of eighty -five, above, beyond the rest. The year ' s events all took place, the games, exams, and dances. Now, each one rests in memory which each event enhances. With banquet, prom and tassled caps, we bade a fond farewell To these past four years about which mere words can hardly tell. We only hope with heart and soul from such a thrilling past. Through all the years and years to come, sweet memories will last. CONGRATULATIONS TO US THE CLASS OF ' 85 Patrons There are many times that we have turned to others for support in our efforts.
