One of the highest honors a student at Westboro High School can attain is election to the National Honor Society. Members are selected on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership and service. This group sponsors a snow sculpturing contest and a dance in February and awards a fifty dollar scholarship to one of its members. As working members, they devote two periods a week to library duty, arrange displays, maintain a scrapbook of school activities, and run a paper-back bookstore. Westborough High School has been affiliated with the American Field Service since 1960. We have received stu- dents from Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Belgium, Peru, Australia and Brazil. Some of our pupils also have had the privilege of visiting foreign lands. We have sent student- ambassadors to Finland, Brazil, Germany and France. Our main purpose in this two-way experiment is to awaken in our- selves understanding and appreciation of foreign cultures and to give foreigners an honest view of American life.
