HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR SENIOR YEAR Our senior class was lucky enough to have Michele Boulet as an AFS student this year. Everyone who met Michele enjoyed her friendly personality and learned about her native country, Belgium. While Michele was here, she competed in tennis and bad- minton tournaments and did very well. The people of Campos, Brazil, must have been just as happy to have Jane Roche with them for the summer of 1963 as we were to have Michele. Janie has told us many interesting stories of her experiences. Some of us had a chance to meet her handsome, Brazilian brother, Sergio, an AFS student in Rye, New York. This year three seniors received football awards. At the fall sports awards assembly Tom Mason received the Richard L. Little award for the most improved senior player. At the annual football banquet David Whitney received an award for outstanding line- man and one for outstanding player. Tom Humphrey received an award for the out- standing back. Near the end of the regular football season a team composed of senior football players played a team of underclassmen. In this senior bowl the seniors overran the other team by a score of 26-0. Our class presented the famous play Our Town under the direction of Mrs. Edward Erickson. Despite the fact the play was given on Friday, the 13th of December, it was a tremendous success. Everyone, including the chaperones, had a good time at our senior dance, Autumn Magic, doing the hokey pokey. And who could forget our soggy paper drive? Congratulations are due to several seniors who have received scholarship awards. In the Merit Scholarship Test, Ann Burroughs was a semi- finalist, and Wilmoth Peairs, Jane Roche, and Paul Imse received honorable mention. Wilmoth also was a semi- finalist in the National Honor Society Scholarship Test. This year ' s Science Quiz Team was composed entirely of Seniors: Captain David Law- ton, Valerie Fenno, Jim Lekberg, Wilmoth Peairs, Becky Witherell, and Paul Imse. The team lost to Wellesley by 220-210, but won its first match with Lincoln- Sudbury by a score of 230-210. This year the girls ' basketball team under the leadership of Co- Captains Mary Ruth Chambers and Nancy Lund finished the season undefeated. The boys also had a very successful season, winning 15 out of their 21 games. With this record they were in- vited to play in the Clark Tournament where they won their first two games. For their fine showing the boys won the runner-up trophy. We are proud of both our scholastic and our athletic achievements. We will always remember all the work we ' ve put into our activities and all the fun we ' ve had during our years at Westboro High School, 35 WITTIEST BOY MOST POPULAR BOY WITTIEST GIRL Dave Whitney Matt Broderick Sharon Hunt ALL AROUND SENIOR BOY Hint Ta y l0r Jim Lekberg 36 PRESIDENT: Paul Ruchinskas VICE PRESIDENT: Donna DeSiata SECRETARY: Pamela Duckworth TREASURER: Stephen Brooks 38 PRESIDENT: Frank DeSiata VICE PRESIDENT: Nancy Curtis SECRETARY: Sandra Hemenway TREASURER: Jon Piper 39 41 Now what? We were privileged to have the Beatles as special guests at our annual varsity-facul- ty game. If they looked at all like Mr. Wetherell, Mr. Baker, Mr. Wright, and Mr. Forand, it was purely coincidental. We must also give credit to the talented faculty cheerleaders who cheered their team to victory. That night was fun for all, and one that most of us will always remember. 77 DOROTHY HICKOX REALTOR Member of Worcester Multiple Service 1 East Main Street Westboro Telephone FOrest 6-2518 PLeasant 4-6952 THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF WESTBORO Westboro, Mass.
