The main objectives of the I .F.C. are to promote better relations among fraternities, to establish a rapport with other campus organizations, to present a good Greek image in the community, and to advance Greek ideals and goals at West Virginia Tech. As on any college campus, the fraternities sponsor the main social functions, and tlie I.F.C. has the job of seeing that these social functions benefit both the fraternities and the campus. The membership of the I.F.C. is composed of three members each from Beta Kappa Chi, Psi Delta, and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternities. Officers are elected from the membership. to Right Standing: Linda Akers, Trearurery Gail Settle, Preridenty Linda Morris, Vice Preridenty Karleen Purcell, Secretary. Kathy Johnson, and Gail McGee. The Inter-Sorority Council formulates and enforces rules for the guidance of social sororities of West Virginia Institute of Technology. The council is composed of three active delegates from each of the two social sororities in addi- tion to the president. Inter-Sorority Council creates harmony and cooperation between the two so- rorities and presents awards to the sorority girls with the highest academic averages. I.S.C.'s main job, however, is to control Rush Week, set up rules for pledging, and regulate Help Week. I.S.C. designates the week for rushing and the week for signing of pledge cards. It also issues the official pledge cards. Last year I.S.C. and I.F.C. co-sponsored Greek weekend. This affair consisted of an open dance a closed dance, a Greek sing, and the selection of Greek Man and Woman of the Year. Winners of the Greek sing were Sigma Iota Chi and Sigma Phi Epsilon. F3 J 1 Sigma Phi Epsilon takes pride in being Tech's oldest and largest National Social Fraternity. Operating as such we are always one step ahead of everyone when it comes to either social functions or grade point aver- ages. In addition to our eight yearly major dances and the Luau, you will find Sig Eps socializing evervwhere from house parties, to the Bear's Den, to Benny's Grocery Store. Yet such so- cializing doesn't prevent the brothers from constantly obtaining better grades than the All-Men's Average. This is no less amazing to the brothers than it is to their instructors. None of W. Va. Epsilon's Brothers may ever go on to become olympic sportsmen, but we were number one in the '65-'66 Intra- brothers on its roster. Always with an eye for beauty, the brother's nom- inee for the honor of Min Bear Tracks, Kathy John- son, was unanimously elected by the photographers of Playboy Magazine. Girls are also chosen as Queens .for each our formal dances and of course, the Luau. Of course in addition to fraternity ac- tivities, the brothers engage in extra curricular activities of all sorts. fSee pre- vious mention of Bennysj It is a rare organization on campus that does not have its share of Sig-Eps actively par- ticipating in it. QI-Excluding of course Beta Kappa Chi and Psi Deltaj mural Gamer, a fact which we are all proud off Varsity Our house is always open to visitors falthough it is sports can boast at least one Sig-Ep on any given team. most presentable during a regular open housej so feel Football was a Sig-Ep stronghold this year with ten free to drop in and relax some weekend. Striving through brotherhood, the fraternity has again shown itself to be an important part of leadership on the campus. In intramural competition the Psi , Delta team won the football champion- ship. The fraternity dominated the elec- tion for class officers by winning thir- teen of eighteen offices. This year's Miss Golden Bear, Carole K, was a Psi Delta candidate. On the academic side, the fraternity had five brothers nomina- D ted to W'l9o's Who In Amerimfz Colleges and Univer- sities. They are Larry Losch, Mike Weddington, Mike Ward, A. D. Thompson, and Onas Aliff. Social functions also play a big role in the Psi Delta activities. The brothers enjoy many closedtparties and open functions. This year an important innovation has been added to the Psi Delta social calendar. It is the annual raft race and Buccaneer Ball. The raft race at the present time is intramural, however, there are strong expectations that it will ' become intercollegiate. Other open func- tions include the Christmas Formal, Rhy- thm Rock, and the Springarama. One of the things that made this year so great was the fact that Psi Delta has affiliated itself with the national fraternity of Pi Kappa Phi. This event lends a sad note to the year in that this was Psi Delta's last year. How- ever, looking to the future the brothers find much joy in the fact that they have become brothers with the members of the other fifty-five chapters of P-i Kappa Phi. December 27-29 Mu Tau was represented at the A Phi O National Convention in Minneapolis by 31 brothers. At this convention Mu Tau Chapter was ,recognized for its record of Service on the small college campus and received the coveted man-mile award. Virginia Complimenfs of THE R TECH CENTER BOOKSTORE F0015 A Prologue to Time Past just as there is a time to begin, there must come a time to end. As all things must end-so ends this book. If we were to leave one lasting impression with you we would hope it to be one of the value of time. We are each given a time- a time for us -and our primary aim should be to use it well. Your staff hopes that you will not consider the time and effort utilized in putting together this yearbook as time poorly spent. We claim partial fulfillment of our goal in that you hold in your hands now a record of a portion of your life which will soon be a dim memory. We could not conclude this annual appropriately without expressing our appreciation to all who had a part in its production. Many thanks to Mr. Bert Buckbee whose get things done and get them done now attitude helped us through the crisis which are bound to arise around deadline time. To the staff-Ann Mann, Tom Healey, Kay Hannah, Debbie Fisher, Eddie Duncan, April Shamblen, Tammy Deahl, Kelen Fullmer, Kay Sapp, and my assistant editor D. C. Marikovics thank you! Special thanks to Mr. Roderick Wilson and his maligned, harassed photographic staff. They took and processed hundreds of pictures for us and although they weren't always prompt, came through for our final deadline even if it did mean living in the darkroom for an entire week- end. ' Thanks to the student body who not only finance this book but also provide the subject matter. This book and the time put into its production is financed by you, for you, and about you! We hope you consider it Worth my time and your money. Editor, 1966 Bear Tracks I ,..d - tl -:e...,fu:fT 'ff-2 'T ' .i , .5 y1f-u-- ...- . h-. - --' If-- i P1 ' mr inf wvl V1.1 n 113 x Z ff - ,, .
