DEDICATION A scholar, o pioneer of new techniques in his field, but first and always a teacher. Dr. Nugent joined the faculty OS assistant professor in 1961. In 1970 he was named chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery. Known and loved by students, residents, and pa- tients alike, the Doss is described as consistent, con- servative, and honest , possessing the qualities of in- tegrity, humility, and a tremendous sense of timing. Decouse of his retirement this year, the 1967 Pylon is dedicated to him,- It Is, in fact, his dedication to us, to the University, and to West Virginia for which we honor him here. Thank you. IN MEMORY Four years ago, 91 young men and women, many of them strangers, came together os classmates. As will often happen, persons of strong personal character soon become prominent figures in a group. Al Lewis was such a man. His personal warmth, his genuine interest in others, and most of all, his sense of humor, allowed Al to befriend many in a short while. He became o respected and well-loved member of our class, and his loss has touched each one of us. It Is our wish to honor the memory of our dear friend. 12
