1984 finds the WVU Medical Center faced with the same grave financial problems, such as escalating costs, budget cuts, and increasing maintenance, encountered by similar institutions across the country. However, as the staff and administration deal with these difficulties, they continue to ac- cept the challenges of the present and future, and guide the Medical Center in its position as a leader in the fields of teaching, research, and service.
