M.D. Qcholar Researcher Teacher Physician The graduating class dedicates Pylon 1976 to you as you retire after sixteen years of service to the West Virginia University School of Medicine . As the chairman of the Department of Medicine from the inception of the school, you have devel- oped and guided a department that is respected by all for its expertise and professionalism. You created an environment of high academic standards which we needed to become knowledgeable and competent physicians; however, you have made an even greater contribution to our medical educa- tion as an example of what the patient-doctor relationship means. Each patient was treated with respect and consideration as a human being. None was made to feel rushed or unimportant. Each was made to feel at ease by yoiu: gentle competent touch, quiet sense of humor and a sincere interest in his well being. Your leadership will be missed. Your influence will remain.
