Where music has a free reign. Expansion . . . It all started with Martin Hall a long time ago. Ninety years is a lot of time for growing, and the University has grown; haphazardly, leisurely. Brick and stone, ivy and traditions. A growth from a few buildings to an educational giant standing by the Monongahela. A li ing heart, a great heart, beating slowly, steadily. And as the campus skyline changes, we are able to see the growth. .Slightly before us came Armstrong Hall, Physics Building, and Brooks Hall. The top of the Library was completed. The Health Center became a reality and the Uni ersity received the Cafeteria and a rather permanent temporary Mountainlair building. In our midst came more expansion and plans. The Journalism School achieved its own headcjuarters. The Music Building was completed, as was New Hall for women. Fire played ha oc with Mechanical Hall, giving us two new aluminum structures to ser e as a temporaiy home for engineers. The heating plant for the new med center is finished. The Basic Sciences Building is nearing completion, and a capital land improvement was made witji the obtain- ing of the Evansdale Campus. To become an e -entual reality are numerous plans now in the mill. The state legislature has authorized tlie issue of revenue bonds to finance construction of new agriculture and engineering colleges. The University Teaching Hospital will be completed. Construction will begin on the approved plans for a new bookstore. In time, the now-proposed Men ' s Hall extension will be realized, and Mountainlaii; will have a new union building.
