The Student Court performs the judicial function STUDENT COURT of Student Governnnent. It determines offenses and penalties of Freshman rules and hears appeals from al disciplinary actions of the Executive Council and Leg- islature. It reviews and certifies the form and contenr of proposed amendments to the Student Body Consti- tution. It also renders judgment on other issues pre- sented to it by the Executive Council or Legislature. Of its seven members, four serve ex officio and three are appointed. LEGISLATURE In the Student Legislature, each school and college is represented in proportion to its enrollment. The leg- islature is the policy-making branch of Student Gov- ernment. It confir ms or rejects all appointments made by the Student Body President, determines rules of Fresh- man Tradition, sponsors traditional weekends and special events, appropriates Student Government funds, and requires reports from student committees and organizations under its jurisdiction. Under its power to make all regulations necessary and proper to promote the general welfare of the stu- dent body, the Legislature formulates many Student- Government policies. Most major projects are author- ized or inspired by Legislature resolutions. 26
