C ldenhoweif cJDa Before a crowd of five thousand people on a sunny Tuesday, Septem- ber 20, 1947, in the Mountaineer Stadium, General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower addressed the Students and Faculty at a Special Convoca- tion. As the General addressed the assembly a rigid honor guard of R.O.T.C. Cadets flanked the speakers ' stand, while the faculty dressed in their colorful gowns encircled the rostrum. Also at this memorable occasion an Honorary Doctors Degree was conferred upon General Eisenhower. 12
