: s h all students of Morgantown will long remember, student life on the University campus is true life — unaffected, sincere and tinged with an attitude of enthusiasm and eagerness for the prohlems of the present and the future. Even the most cherished memories grow dim with the passing years, and the task of fully recording the ever changing panorama of college life is an amhitious one. The Monticola, as the official chronicle of the year ' s activities, has under- taken this task and trusts that each student will he ahle to associate the pictured activities with personal experience and so form a com- plete record of their Morgantown sojourn. And when memories have faded and time is dim, if this hook recalls the glorious days spent at West Virginia University, the joy of service will he ours.

WDU Id not be bECDming to affable Charles Lawall to offer loud and flowery praises of him, even though he may deserve it. This mild-mannered, soft-spoken gentleman has proved his worth to the State and West Virginians have taken him in and aim to keep him. President Lawall refused a formal inauguration after his eleva- tion to the presidency because he feh he knew the people of West Virginia and that they knew him.
