A Community College Building, housing the programs for Industrial Technology, Consumer Services, and Community College administration, a Natural Sciences Build- ing to replace Hamblin Hall, and a new Field House - Gymnasium which will replace Fleming Hall. After con- struction of the new buildings, the old ones will be demolished. Buildings which will receive extensive reova- tions include the Drain-Jordan Library, Wilson Student Union, and Jones Hall. The library will also receive a major addition. Currently in progress is a thorough renovation of the Administration Building. Information development for the plan involved all academic and administrative departments at the college. Academic departments prepared statements of their program plans for the next 5-10 years. Along with review of the written documentation, staff of The Eggers Group conducted more than 50 interviews with faculty, administrators, and students. Interviews with staff of the College of Graduate Studies were conducted to assess the needs of COGS on the WVSC campus. In addi- tion, a team of seven architectural and engineering specialists spent four days on campus conducting inspec- tions of each building and reviewing specifications for building structures and mechanical systems. Traffic consultants engaged by The Eggers Group undertook a survey for the better part of a week to determine the | in January 1978, the college recommended to the Board of Regents the employment of The Eggers Group, { flow of vehicles on campus streets and surrounding roads.

After review by the college’s staff and the submission of a number of recommendations, the final documents were prepared for presentation to the Board of Regents in January 1979. The campus development plan appears in three volumes. The first volume surveys the condition and needs of the college’s buildings and grounds, and presents recom- mendations for overcoming the deficiencies cited. Volume Two presents the planning data that were used for developing the space needs for the college’s instructural, athletic, and administrative activities. The third volume presents the scope of the proposed plan with recommendations for new construction, renovation, and changes in the campus grounds.
