The legislature of West Virginia passed an act establishing the West Virginia Colored ve ee CO Ge Institute in 1891. The main purpose of the institute was to. train Blacks in agriculture, horticulture, mechanical arts, and domestic science. Tuition was free and the anly charge was a matriculatuin fee of $1 per term. The College integrated in 1954. President Jos Wallace - led West Virginia State College to become one of the most integrated institutions of higher learning.
