5 , Cross Country This year awards were given for outstanding performance in Cross Country and Football. In the front row are the Cross Country award winners who tied for high-point honors. Left to right are: Dave Stark, Bill Webster, and Clarence Samm. Football awards for men with most tackles were shared by Jim Scott and Jim Byrer standing. Under the direction of Coach James Hargis and co-captains Bill Webster and Dave Stark, the 1962 cross country team placed fourth in the Wabash Valley. They won 33 1 3% of their meets with the help of their leading scorers: Bill Web¬ ster, Bucky Samm, Dave Stark, Lenny Isles, Sonny Selvia, Brook Flinn and Fred Rawley. The Freshman Football team ended the 1962 season with a record of I victory and 5 defeats. The inexperienced squad clashed with such foes as Clinton, Schulte, Brazil, Honey Creek, Sullivan, and Marshall, Illinois. These statistics can not show that we defeated such teams as State, Garfield, Schulte and our arch rival Honey Creek. Mr. Robert Crombie, formerly of the Honey Creek coach¬ ing staff, was appointed as head basketball coach of the varsity team.
