The opening of the 1962 football season was the first year for West Vigo to have four football coaches. Guiding the growing football spirit was head coach Paul Blair. His assistants includ¬ ing the two new ones are Robert Thompson, backfield coach; Michael Beach, line coach; and Robert Burton, freshman coach. The Vikings met such stiff competition as Gerstmeyer, Wiley, Garfield, Honey Creek, and others. These four men helped West Vigo’s first varsity squad to a three won, six lost record. The team finished sixth in the Western Indiana Conference and twelfth in the Wabash Valley.
