imoah tail The annual staff has had a very enjoyable time working on the first West Valley High School yearbook. Now that the job is finished, we will relate some of the history of this first WIMOAH. The name of our yearbook was chosen by the student body. Several suggestions for its name were presented by the students. The word WIMOAH was made by using Wl to represent Wide Hollow, MO to represent Mountain View, and AH to represent Ahtanum Valley. the three grade schools whose students eventually become members of West Valley High. Work on the WIMOAH had a late start, due to the fact that there was no staff. Many year- books have their theme and lay-out decided upon the summer before school opens. All this was done for the WIMOAH in November. Members of the staff had had very little previous experience. With the excellent and indis- pensable help of Miss Barbara Christensen. advisor. and several conferences with representatives from the Republic Press. we learned about the publishing of a yearbook. Four members were able to attend the Republic Press Yearbook conference in January. At that meeting. they learned many interesting facts about how the book is published and received pointers and tips on such things as copy. photography. choosing paper, and arranging material on the pages. The group was also taken on a tour of the plant to see the presses and printing processes. After the conference. the annual staff turned back to their work with renewed vigor. Advertising was sold, copy written, pictures taken, pages arranged and rearranged, and there was endless typing to be done. At last deadlines were successfully met and now at the end of the year, the annual staff looks proudly on the first WIMOAH. We acknowledge and are very grateful for the help we received from the Republic Press. Mr. Harold Scofield, photographer, and Kennell-Ellis Studios. out the year. These were held in the staff mem- bers homes and at school. These meetings gave everyone a chance to discuss their problems and air their views. Pictured at one of these meetings are Shirley Barringer, ,Ian Mize, and Nancy Hafsos in the upper right and Carolyn Sanislo, Janet Yergen, jo Ann Walker, and Fran Nonnenmacher in the lower left. ii- Several workshop sessions were held through-
