Fre hmen lt was a double thrill for the Freshmen to start school at the new West Valley High, because it was also the first of their four exciting years of high school. On that first day of school they were all a little scared, wondering what a big high school would be like. They were also thrilled with new books and the first explorations into the mysteries of algebra and other new subjects. Soon they had made many new friends and really began to get into the swing of things. The Freshmen started right off by taking an active part in school activities. Many of the girls participated in Pep Club and Drill Team, and the boys made a fine showing in all sports. The Fresh- man basketball team beat Selahis freshmen by one point in one of West Valleyls most exciting games. With Mrs. Lorraine Slagle as their advisor, the Freshman class elected their officers and made plans for their first money making project, a Tolo Dance in February. If their projects in future years are as successful as their dance and they continue through their school years with such enthus- iasm, we are assured that the Freshmen of '56 will continue to uphold the traditions of our school and make West Valley a better school.
