West Valley lnaugurates Spirit Week Laugh-In set the pace as West Valley students prepared for a week of spirit. A cast of Laugh-In associates were chosen by Mr. Taruscio and committee to get the show on the road. It's Our World And Welcome To It also gave the week its start along with junior Jigsawf' On Tuesday, the highlight of the day was the Car Bash, but let us not forget Queen For A Day. Wednesday during both lunches six boys devoured pies for the Pie Eating Contestf, when a senior and sophomore won. Thursday probably the most exciting day yet, was, the battle between the senior andjunior girls for the 'lPowder Puff' Football Game, coached by senior, Cheryl Griffith andjunior, Toni Smith. The seniors lost proudly to thejuniors. Friday, the most important day of the week was a pep assembly to announce the winners ofthe Mustache Contest and others and to name the class with the most spirit for the week. The week was to come to a climax when the West Valley Eagles took on the Couer d'Alene Vikings. Though we lost we had one thing to be proud of - our school spirit.

WV Enjoys A Happening Red, white and blue flowers, shimmering sheets of tin foil and psychedelic posters set the mood for a 'LHappening,,' presented by the Art Club, onjanuary 17, 1970. The dress was mod, casual and zany to fit the occasion. The music was provided by the Spoon Rivern. Chocolate covered grasshoppers, ants, bees, and caterpillars were imported for hardy appetites, QUpper Rightj An Oriental touch was supplied by the refreshment corner with low tables at which couples sat on the floor, CCentcr Leftj Doni Schimizu sang while accompanying herself on the guitar during intermission. CCenter Rightj Couples danced to the Spoon River , a progressive rock group from Ferris, CLower Leftj Art students prepared an exhibit of projects which couples enjoyed during the dance. CLower Rightj A red, white and blue bathtub adorned with identically colored flowers provided the picture background for Vicky Chaney and Scott Wallace.
