administrators provide example leadership Long years can seem quite short when we live them for others. As principal, Mr. G. Wallace Mills has given 23 years of his life to WV students, contributing freely of his time, his thought, his understanding, and his sincere interest and belief in youth. He has created in himself a symbol, a pattern for students to follow in these years. Not only has Mr. Mills given of his time for students. As an administrator, his time is divided among the various organi- zations both in and out of the West Valley School District: the National and State Principals' Association, NEA, WEA, and WVEA, the Athletic Board of Central for State activitiesg Phi Delta Kappa, educational honorary, and Kiwanis. Spare time, which is at a premium in the case of our princi- pal, is occupied with an occasional round of golf or a visit with either of his two sons and their families, enjoying the three grandchildren. Overseeing the expenditure of the budget and maintaining the high quality of teachers em- ployed by the district are the two chief responsibilities of Mr. George Daniel, Superintendent of the West Valley schools. MR. MILLS He works directly with admin- Principal istrators to organize both the educational program of the dis- MR. DANIEL trict and the facilities of years Superintendent to come and with the public to plan school activities. W. V. 's superintendent reflects the outstanding performance that he expects from his staff. Pres- ident of Spokane Area Superin- tendents' Association, Treasurer of Spokane Valley Rotary, Chair- man of the State WEA Improve- ment of Instruction Committee and Member of the Board of Directors of Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce are only the positions of leadership held by Mr. Daniel, a Phi Delta Kappa member. A position of leadership is also maintained on the golf course as was exhibited at the fall West Valley open. Skiing and fishing help round out the year for a busy man who is presently en- rolled in the Doctoral program in Administration and Instruction at WSU.

MR. JOHNSON Vice principal ff Helping students obtain the most from their education occupies the majority of the hours spent by Mr. Elmer Johnson in his fourth year as vice-principal of West Valley High School. Sched- uling and enrolling all underclassmen, maintaining accurate attendance records and balancing class loads are only a few of the duties which keep our vice-principal's day anything but un- eventful. But Mr. Johnson's day does not usually end at 5 or 6 p. m. One can always expect to see him at all school activities-- games, mixers, plays, concerts or dances--always ready to lend a help- ing hand if the need arises. With the completion of his Masters Degree in Administration, W. V. 's vice-principal now has more time, if such a commodity exists, to enjoy hunting, fishing and housebuilding.
