l With a fervor surpassed by none, the West Valley Gymnastics team began their season eagerly. Under the slsillful coaching of Ms. l-louse, the sixteen-girl-team competed against their adversaries with determination, shining brilliantly as they placed vvell in individual events on the vault, the uneven bars, the balance beam, and the floor routines. After the end of the tiring regional season, the team began to prepare for the Region Meet, vvhere the girls had some of their best performances of the years The gymnasts were eager, and they anticipated the thrills of the State Meet in Anchorage. Several of the team members placed well, and the whole team performed vvith added vigor. Not only did these athletes do well in Regional and State competition, they also did well on an international scale. In the ream's second annual Cartwheel-a-than , Mimi Lee broke the Guiness Bools record by turning 2688 continuous cartwheels. Through this activity, all the girls earned money to support the team. Although the team will lose some members at graduation, there will surely be new ones to fill their places. With this in mind, hopes for the West Valley gymnastics team are higher than ever, and next year should be even better. WEST GYMNASTS DID WELL ON ALL LEVELS-REGION, STATE AND WORLD As Mimi Lee's llghtfooted routine fascinates Exertlng llthe nimbleness on the floor Is the crowd, she prepares to capture the Donna Neldhold, a magnificent achlever of judge's attention also. the splits.
