Dressed for Halloween, West's ghoulies participate in the annual costume contest. Acting as an exciting preview, the fall season was a delightful array of activities which helped make up the colorful year. Enthusiastic West Students donned a variety of outrageous costumes for a lively Halloween, participated in a festive Thanksgiving, and along with their parents got to see further into the school with the annual Open House. Halloween was celebrated with errie hallways, the costume contest, and the Anything Goes contest. The imaginative Freshmen won the hall decorating contest, while the spirited Juniors cheered on their victorious Anything Goes foursome, Thanksgiving at West was characterized by a festive spirit and charitable feelings. Students brought in canned food for the needy, and cans were used far admission into the special Thanksgiving assembly. Those students who neglected to bring a can paid a quarter to see the girls' varsity volleyball team challenge the varsity football squad to a crawdfrousing volleyball match. Two games were played with the girls being victorious in the first and the football team coming out on top in the second. Open House at West was an effective success as students were given a chance to show their parents the school and its facilities. The magnificent Wolfpack band performed for the visitors and parents were welcome to converse with faculty members. Fall was a funefilled beginning for a wonderful year at West and the majority of the student body considered the season a dynamic opening for the new decade.
