TEACHERS AST As West Valley students welcomed new teachers, they also said their farewells to two longtime West teachers, Miss Hughes, the art instructor, retired mid- semester after introducing many a student to the joys of art, She also organized the art enthusiasts into the first West Valley Art Club, and with the club, put on many fine art shows. Mrs. Herning instructed various business courses, and was much loved by her students. She retired midesemester, and returned May 5th to lead the National Honor Society procession at the induction ceremony. H Both teachers will be missed by the students, and will be remembered for the terrific job they did at West Valley. Miss Lois Hughes PRESENT Ms. Jamie Forest This year the West Valley student body welcomed a number of new teaching faces. They were replacements for moving or retiring teachers and they fir well into the school and community. Among these new and fascinating figures is Ms, Bose Potter, who won the hearts of a number of Spanish students. Ms. Potter enjoys coolsing, yoga, and travel during her spare time. Her favorite television show is Masterpiece Theatre. Mrs. Jamie Forest is another new teacher at West. Originally from Fairbanlss she has taught at various ,elementary and Junior Ms. Sandra Madsen High Schools in the Fairbanlss areo. Out of worls time she spends on balsing, sewing, and playing guitar, along with watching Maris and Mindy, Dallas, and Three's Company. Becoming the new art teacher for second semester was Ms. Barbara Rinlser Short, Extra curricular activities for her spare time are drowing, painting, pottery, and sports. Her favorrie television programs are well produced documentaries. Being o new mother of almost a year, Mrs. Sandy Madsen tools off first semester to roise her baby, but she's bacls second H Mrs. Mattie Herning semester teaching English and Latin. Mr. Bob Howlsins and Ms. Julia Looney have talsen on some of the business section left by the retiring of Mrs. Herning. Mr. Hawlsins teaches o full schedule of typing classes and Ms. Looney has her hands full with the Business courses. Another new mother who was home was Mrs. Heimer. When she was gone her spot was talsen over by Mrs. Hayden, who now reaches the child development, independent living, and clothing until Mrs. Heimer returns.
