PERSPECTIVE OFFERING COURSES AT ALL LEVELS OF SKILL, WEST BOASTED ONE OF THE BEST FINE ARTS PROGRAMS STATEWIDE With one of the best music programs in the store, West has o reputation for fine pertormances from the bond, orchesrro, and choir. Each year there is a respectable number of West Valley students selected for All Stare and some musicians earn o spar in the All-Northwest band, choir, or orchestra, The band is divided into various slsill levels including beginning, intermediate, stage, and concert, providing any enthusiastic student a chance to play an instruments A separate guitar class is available, The orchestra has rvvo degrees of performance, training and chamber orchestra, which lilse the band, opens the possibility of picking up an instrument even or rhe high school level. Choir is done somewhat dilterenrly vvirh only selected students being able ra be in the choir, Although this somewhat limits the possibility of new singers, the choir is very good and has a large number of singers All these groups put on performances for various activities such as Christmas, Open Houses, Pops Concerts, and the band marches for toorball games and in parades, Mr, Wiese conducts the band, Mrs. Davis leads the choir, and Mrs. Marschlse directs the orchestra, Another group which puts an shows at West is the Arr Clubs The Arr Club members come mainly from the various art classes which are available These classes are instructed by Lois Hughes and are art vvorltshap, advanced arr workshop, and srudio arr. The arr classes count as electives and are enjoyable ro ralter ,vos Putting thoughts on paper, Brad Rohloff concentrates on his work. Settling down for another period of practlce and hard work, Kevin Crank, Janet Mitchell, Catherine Montgomery. and Jan Thomson prepare to give another perfect performance.
