The career center, often called ACDC, is open to high school students and offers many useful courses for the industrious student With the help offered through the career center a student can get a job which not only pays well, but also counts as credit towards graduation. Any question that a student may have about the past, whether it be about Alaslsa the United States, Africa, or any other place in the world, could probably be answered within one ot the Social Studies courses available at West, Answers to government, economics, and religion are also within the reach of each and every student passing through the halls. Because of the requirement which says any graduating student must talte six semesters of Social Studies, many of these questions are answered and new questions are raised by curious students. Not only do the Social Studies students read about the past, they view many tilmstrips and movies on their various subjects. An added bonus to the opportunity to gain knowledgeable information is the chance of gaining college credit and doing college equivalent wotls in the AP. United States History class taught by department head Doris D. Ray, With questions answered and new ones asl-ted, the West Valley Social Studies student, whether college bound or not, will have a new and broader perception of what malses the world turn and lseeps people together.
