X Tightening Up The Routine Cartwheels, flips, and back walkovers were the order of the day, every day of the season, as West Valley's gymnasts compiled routines for the uneven bars, the beam, and the floor exercises. The 12 girls on the gym- nastics team competed in local and regional meets and seven went with Coach Luanne Sweet to the State Meet where they captured 8th place as a team, with Donna Neidhold taking first in floor exercises. They were the Spirit Freaks ofcourse! The purpose of the club, as Advisor Mrs. Diadre Dalrymple stated, was to support the cheerleaders, and get rowdy! Spirit Freak President Melinda Howard headed the 45 members as they screamed and cheered through West Valley basketball, football, and hockey games.
