Chamness explains the primary goal of J.C.L. is To encourage among young people an interest in and appre- ciation of the civilization, language, literature and art of ancient Greece and Rome, and to give some understand- ing ofthe debt of our own culture to that ofthe classical antiquity. Boasting bountiful banquets with Greek and Roman delicacies in varius flavus , the League started activi- ties with the induction of new members. Guided by four Senators and an Aedile fProgram Directorj the club kindled the Roman candle of action. Under the leadership of President Claire-Bear Ro- miek, Vice-President Bill Hidden, and Secretary-Trea- surer Willie Koo, the International Club members never went hungry. The yearly activities began with a sumptu- ous banquet for members and their families, which in- cluded exotic dishes from France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Italy, China, and Mexico. With the help of super- visors Mrs. Renata Van Enkevort and Miss Susan Pe- ters, the club baked dozens of delectables, went Christ- mas caroling, hosted parties, and did a magnificent job decorating their showcase. Viewers: We Put You In The Picture Harry Knuckles, private eye, and his wonder-dog, Vivian, would have felt right at home in Mrs. Philleo's yearbook class with twenty-eight Corruptors of Criminals, Fighters of Foes, and Doers of Decent Deeds. The scentimental campaign kicked off a productive year for the Aurora staff. With visions of Leroy dancing before their eyes, Editors Stacey Schallock and Missie Benson led the attack on defenseless dummies Cnot the staffers-the rough layout planners for yearbook pageslj. The ad crew hit the streets of Fairbanks with a fantastic sales pitch, photographers developed skills, photos, and hands, and the artists drew the conclusion that it was all lunacy. The copy staff vigorously assulted innocent paper with abundant creativity, mostly unprintable, and inner margins, outer margins, and marginal sanity haunted the layout people. By the time of the final dead- line the staff all looked at their world super-imposed on the imagined graph paper of a layout planner, but here the success of these talented people is laid out for the Gentle Reader.
