SJ!!! 5 There was a surprise in store for many people when concert band started again this school year with innova- tive projects. One of the bands newer projects was the Music Marathon, done with the orchestra. Actually it cannot be said that concert band started again, as it never really stopped at the end of the last school year. The band continued marching practice and in July '77, marched and won first place in the Golden Days Parade for music and marching. They have also marched for two military functions at Fort Wainwright and have received awards for them. The band gave five local concerts, performed in the State Music Festival, and took a tour to the south central part of the state where they played 16 concerts. Band Captain Lisa Klaich, director George Wiese, and the 68 students in band did their best to fulfill the band's main goal which was To honor our school and the city of Fairbanks by being the best band in the state. the City of Fairbanks by Being .
