Leaders Of The Pack Even though they were the smallest class in the school, the Seniors stood on top of the student hier- archy. The Seniors, though eagerly awaiting gradua- tion, devoted their extra time to school activities. Led by Senior Class President Shannon Barnett, the staff of officers and representatives made the year a good one for fellow senioritis-suffers. A dynamic assembly of Juniors led their class through an exciting year. Bernice Burns headed the group as their efforts brought forth a dance CBoogie Nightsj, the Junior Prom, and other activities in which all classes participated. The Sophomores generated energy and zest as they became involved in student activities under the com- mand of Mary Van Hoomisen. The rest of the class got involved as the officiers in hall decorating, float build- ing and other events organized by the individual classes and the student council as a whole. The Freshmen officiers and representatives gained experience as they developed expertise in handling school affairs. Their growing knowledge was apparent as they planned Homecoming, Halloween and Christ- mas activities. Freshmcn leaders of '78-'79 are FRONT ROW: Leanne Olmstead, V. Gray Matter akes the Grade When asked, Are there intelligent life forms at West Valley'? , a safe response is to direct the question to a National Honor Society member. Well prepared to an- swer faffirmatively!J would be N.H.S. President, Willie Koog Vice President, Lisa Klaichg Treasurer, Ed Lam- bertg Secretary, Cheryl Wintersg or any member of West's society for the academically elite. Each member must have a 3.5 or higher grade point average and spe- cial recommendation by teachers, so membership is truly an honor. On top of showing continually outstanding academic ability, N.H.S. people were busy throughout the year with service projects. As well as providing N.H.S. schol- arships, films were shown and events such as the faculty tea at Christmas were held. Abundance of brains and bright ideas in this organization makes its projects im- portant additions to West. 46 V' 'o 3' Projectionist Willie Koo presents a fund-raising movie for N.H.S.
