Each participant was given the requirements by his director, who had received the requirements earlier in the year. The students then sent a tape to the selecting board who selected and seated the students. The se- lecting board sent the appropriate music to each parti- cipant several weeks before they gathered for rehear- sals and concerts. Collectively, the musical organiza- tions of West Valley sent 19 to Kenai. A special honor goes to Lisa Klaich, who was se- lected as a flutist for the National High School Honors Band. Lisa will be one of 110 high school students re- presenting all states, who will be giving concerts in Chicago this year. This is one of the very highest honors which can come to a studentf', as the co-chair- men ofthe National Band Association stated. Act . s ,tt v, vw -. 'X t Elizabeth Tonkins anxiously searches Tracy Johnson's face as Toby Green voices his suspicion of measles. The romantic lure of Paris, an ocean cruise, and two 19 year old girls are a few of the elements that are combined in Our Hearts were Young and Gay , a three act play by Cornelia Otis Skinner and Emily Kimbrough. This comedy is the story of Cornelia and Emily's hilarious mishaps and misadventures on the way and in Paris. There was the time Emily fElizabeth Tonkinsj threw a deck chair to an overboard man, hitting him on the head. There was also the problem of how to smuggle a very measly Cornelia past the health inspector and into France. The play was performed December 2, 3, and 4, and the following weekend on the 9, 10, after weeks of preparation. The actors and Director Gene DeWild put in many hours to present it, with the aid of Mr. DeWild's theater productions class, Stage Manager Kim Kelly and all of the backstage workers. si., gzai..,,,,,,, L Wk Y- WC?
