Splashing through their first season, the West Valley Swim Teams ranked high in the racing records. The boys team met their match once with Eielson, their only de- feat in six meets. The girls team suffered two losses to Lathrop, but emerged victorious in the remaining four meets. At the Regionals in North Pole, the girls team captured second place, again edged out by Lathrop. Although the boys were the smalles team, they remained the champions in overall competition. The State meet was held in Ketchikan, where the boys were seventh out of nineteen teams, and the girls were ninth. Coach Karen Winslade thought they had done an outstanding job and expects it to continue next year.
