The gentlemen had their sessions at the University of Alaska while the young ladies traveled to Anchorage for their lessons. For seven very memorable days each group lived through a rigid schedule of work- shops, lectures, and what-not. During this time they learn alot, had a little fun, and remembered it all. West Valley is proud to state that out of all 80 boys state attenders, Drake Selmer, was elected as Lt. Governor, which is the 2nd highest office available in the mock government construction by the students. All in all it proved to be a very enjoyable and enlightening experience.

Senior Frolics Due to the lack of snow this year, an alternative to the annual Senior Sledding Party was found in the all-new Senior Swim Party. These parties were held after hours at the U . of A's pool from 10:00 pm . to midnite . After a vigorous swim and a soothing sauna, a quick brunch of cheese and crackers awaited seniors and guests in the Nanook Lounge. Attendance was always high which always helped with the suc- cess ofthe big event. ,Html ' f 'f4,g..,,:: The first dance of the year was held by the Senior class on January 8th, The theme was Beginnings and was held in honor of the new arrivals in the school called Freshman. Normally this dance would have been held at the begin- ning of school except some minor problems re- garding the building completion delayed this . Although it was halfway into the school year, many Freshmen failed to attend because of the terrifying fear of being initiated by the Almighty Seniors. Thus, even with West Lathrop gradu- ate, Jeff Tyson, as disc jockey, attendance was lacking.
