Vartety West Valley Needless to say, as soon as the gym and library were open, student organizer, Lance Gilmer, succeeded in putting together a very successful Open House. lt was held on lVlon- day, December 13, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Refreshments were served, the Concert Choir entertained people in the cafeteria, and the public left with an excellent overall impres- sion of West Valley . With the coming of school being delayed by two weeks , there was an immediate need to make-up these lost days . In the process of trying to find the right plan of action in which to complete a school year, many schemes were thought of. One was to start school earlier in the mornings and another was simply to add the two weeks missed to the end of the year. The end result of this mish-mash of ideas brought about school on Saturday. This meant that one of the beloved days of rest and relaxation was brutally taken up by school once a month, beginning with November. The complaints were that working students could not work and skiers could not ski and on and on. Saturdays proved to be a day of make-up for some and relaxation for others . West Opens Its Doors.
