Et T After th1s once 1U a l1fet1me tour we arrlved at the Taft Hotel and went to our rooms to rest After we unpacked many of us changed our clothes and went down to the Gr1ll Room 1n the Taft for a very excellent d1nner V1ncent Lopez and h1s orchestra played dur 1ng the d1nner hour for our enjoy ment Monday even1ng found us 11s ten1ng to the Band of Amer1ca Rad1O program under the d1rect1on of Paul Lavalle One of the h1ghl1ghts of our tr1p was the tour of the Emplre State Bu1ld1ng We went by way of a subway and spent over an hour gaz1ng at the whole Manhattan Island spread out below us Because of the fog the V1S1b111ty was about e1ght m1les although on a clear day one 1S able to see twenty f1ve mlles Wednesday mornlng we went by bus to the 42nd Street P1er where we boarded one of the C1rcle L1ne S1ght see1ng Yachts for a complete tr1p around Manhattan Island Dur1ng th1s tr1p we passed under both the Brooklyn and the George WaSh1ngtOH Br1dge We were very close to the Statue of L1berty Our gu1de po1nted out numerous pomts of lnterest and made our l1ttle voyage very memorable We had a l1ttle free t1me to do as we l1kedg some of the group went shopp1ng wh1le others Just went to see 1nterest1ng spots that were not 1n cluded 1n our schedule. A few Sen1ors went to Coney Island wh1le others went on a tour through the Un1ted Nat1ons Bu1ld1ng. After the group had gone to see the Perry Como show be1ng produced for rad1o and telev1s1on, we were ready for our tr1p home. We boarded the Chlcagoan, a t1red but very happy group. We enjoyed these clos1ng days of be1ng together as a class and thank Mr. Shoup and Mr. Berthold for help1ng us to make It a pleasant add1t1on to our h1gh school days memor1es. 48 ' I . . . . - . . . , I .
