BOARD 0F ED UATIO These representative citizens of our community who make up the Board of Education have the complex job of keeping our school system operating smoothly. To this task of running the school on an efficient, business- like basis they bring the back- ground of their experiences in their own cho sen vocations. They are: Robert Altman, presidentg Walter Maneval, vice presidentg Frank Hoover, clerkg Lloyd Spangler and Richard Suter. Wray, Dunson, Superintendent and Robert Shoup, Principal, bring to their duties a wealth of experience and per- sonal abilities. Administration, teaching, and guidance fill their busy days. Mr. Dunson is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and Mr. Shoup is a graduate of Defiance College. his Sarahetta Dunson will long be re- membered as the very charming secre- tary who worked along beside Mr. Dunson and Mr. Shoup. In September, 1946, she began her career of book- keeper, file clerk, treasurer, typist, head of cummunications, nursernaid, ambulance driver, and whatever else she saw was needed. She has been a great help to the administration because of her ambition and efficiency. Mrs. Dunson is a graduate of the International Business College in Fort Wayne. : 4 Q. -- 4 ,f Q x n - UMW ixf ,1'g 'w X X , I K ,-1 ! To bolster our treasury in anticipation of our Senior trip next year, we gave two Skating parties, a bake sale, and conducted a paper drive. As a climax to a big year came the Junior Senior banquet which was based on a garden theme. Who can forget the power saw that produced a beautiful spring garden? With only two victories to their credit, a number of hard fought games were lost by the margin of only a point or two. These teams, coached by Joe Berthold, had a good season. In the Junior High tournament West Unity won over Edgerton and Alvordton, only to lose by one point to Stryker in the semi-finals in a well played, hard fought game. Stryker, incidentally, went on to win the tourney. Pictured here are Coach Berthold, Jack Miller, Dick Johnson, Gary Grime, Larry Wineland, Kenny Carpenter, Stuart Walker, Manager Richard Hartman, and in the second row George Towne, Larry Newcomb, Bob Clark, Gary Caughey, Keith Bowers, Rex Pidgeway, Scotty Coats, Mike Field, Jan Hutchison, and Ronnie Clark. 31 H1 vi U yr--,,S'k H A-5 ir Ae Xxx. v 4 ' 5 I f A iw s. -1 BA EBALL Baseball at W. When only three weeks remained in the season the team ranked seventh in the league. At the end of the season West Unity's rating had climbed to fourth.
