FOREWORD Because this was our second year of consolidation, we came together, a more closely-knit group. Our classmates were no long- er new faces from Endy, Ridgecrest, Oakboro, and Stanfield: they were now old friends. Our purposes, achievements, and school spirit were more evident. In the PEGASUS we have tried to capture this feeling of one- ness , of belonging. As the seasons unfold within these pages, may they bring vivid memories of your good times at West. Seniors, when we have left West, and the business of making a living and raising a family overshadow our high school days, may this book be a reminder of our two fun-filled years at West. Juniors, may this book inspire you to greater things for your class and for West. Sophomores, you will be the first graduating class to have com- pleted all four years at West. May you strive to make something better of the best. Freshmen, may you develop a fierce pride in your school. Give it standards, traditions, uniquen ess. Make it a being, not just a building.
