Charles Garner, director of choral music, contributes to the eleva- ' tion of musical tastes by teaching music theory and appreciation and by directing the chorus and choir in concerts for the school and public. The intensity of Christine Schmidt and Linda Sanczuk reiiects the precision that is required in their art projects. Aspiring students with talent in art may explore the many techniques of presenting it through the study of the various schools of art. Assisted by art instructor Mrs. Edith Rice, students construct such objects as wire jewelry and sculptures in clay. Also included' in the course is creative workin oils, water colors, chalks, and inks. Modern approaches to art such as collage are also used. ABOVE, Ruth Fontaine and John Librera find the thoughtful criticism of Mrs. Edith Rice important in de- veloping art talent. 19
