“heard a couple in back of me just rolling in the aisles. I turned around to be confronted by Doug and Luard in person. We chatted until the next show came on. It was a 1950 version of 'Arsenic and Old Lace' starring Lola Ellis in the part of Aunt Abby. As we left, Doug told me Lola had married the director and before we had a chance to say good-bye, we were separated by the crowd I was cruising along when I heard some beautiful strains of nusic Being a Spike Jones fan I went into the auditorium and investigated that unusual music It was the Planet Pluto's Polluted Philharmonic under the direction of Maestro Nilliam CBeethovenJ Huntley After the concert he told me he also played solo trumpet in 'The Band of America? It is still the leading band of the Solar System I left Bill, but not before he had borrowed five dollars from me After Bill left, I stood amazed at the structure of the public auditorium and I learned from a bystander that it had been engineered and designed by that famous ex admiral Bob Meek who had been discharg ed with the highest honors obtainable He was now head professor of higher math at the Interplanetary University The beauty of the murals on the walls was overwhelming The style of painting was familiar but I didn't recognize it until I saw the name of Wanda Fails written gracefully under each mural As I left the auditorium I started down a street full of beauti ful homes I noticed a cute little girl playing on the porch and be fore I could think, she had fallen off I ran to where she was lying and administered first aid As her mother came from the house I recognized her at once It was Marlene Ceeder As we exchanged wel comes her son Billy came out and informed us he had called Dr Makay He had no sooner spoken than 'Doc was there Sure enough, it was Elmer Since he had started out as a T V technician I was inquist tive as to how he had become a 'sawbones ' He told me that after he was able to fix any T V set, fixing humans was a cinch After 'Moe had left I was complimenting Marlene on Her beautiful home and she told me that Bob was the proud pappy of ten children Since all was well, I departed As I left the residential section, I wandered into the business district There, before me, was the 'Hourly Sentinel' building I had often heard of this news service and had always been amazed at how they could turn out news every hour on the hour I thought I would like to meet the editors So I wandered into the spacious hall wa y where I was momentarily lost until I felt a friendly tap on the bade I picked myself up from the floor and turned to meet Jack Vacco e was now head of the sports department of the 'Hourly Sentinel' and he said he would show re around the buildin I was pleasantly surprised an efficient sec etary she awoke upon our entering Not wanting to disturb her any further we proceeded to the ed1tor's office and closed the door on the snoring behind us There sat Audrey Dodge and Linda Evans wko were Co editors We talked over old times and the time passed so quickly I felt I should be leaving They suggested Jack take me to tke society room for another surprise We opened the door to hear a familiar voice recording the latest choice bits of gamip Sure Nuff' it was Elaine Everden She said she was also running a 'Lonely Hearts Club' on the side After hearing the latest, Jack an I parted 14 the hallway where we had met Next to the 'Hourly Sentinel' was a roomlng house of immense sum The ign said 'Carr's CollosalCastle ' As I stopped to read the sign, a uniformed doorman escorted me into the office There was Alice Chrr who was the owner of tkis large rooming house She showed me around her 'Castle' and it was on the elevator that I ran into Ruth Devtle Ruth was really going to the top in the world as an elevator operator In ner spare ' 16 Ier real job wa that of teaching physical educa .
