H STUDY In the fall of 1959, seven, little, eager beavers of our class walked through the doors of Springfield High School to begin twelve years of study They were Elalne Brockett, Marlene Ceeder, Amelia Grubke, Polly Ruland, Jack Vacco, Douglas Wheeler, and Rachel Wheeler Our teacher that year was Miss Mook we followed the exact directions as told by the teachers for the next six years and behaved excellendy Through this we finally progressed to the seventh grade We entered the seventh grade in the fall of 1945 under the supervision of Mr Howland and thought we were really something extra speclal The first day we looked around and began to see how many pupils were in our class as we started our slx years of pleasant study We were James Barlow, Richard Baxter, Elalne Brockett, Luard Burge, Henry Brockway, Marlene Ceeder, Robert Danielson, Ruth Devore, George Dohanic, Lawrence Eaton, Lola Ellis, Edward Greenfield, Amelia Grubke, Marlene Hicks, Robert Jenks, Thomas King, George Legeza, Elmer Makay, Robert Pinckney, Valgean Rexford,Le1la Ruland, Rae Seeley, Jack Vacco, Marcia Voss,Caro1 Wade, Douglas Wheeler, Rachel Wheeler,Nellie Wilcox, and Joe Wilson Boyl Wasn't this the life? Anytime we wanted to waste a little time during study, Just get up and walk around the room a few times This we considered a novelty but we still could not see how those sen iors get away with everything But we believed that it takes time to learn This proved to be not very long At our first class meeting that year we elected the followlng off icers even though we knew nothlng about those silly class meetings President. -...Marcia Voss V1ce President Robert Jenks Secretary Marlene Ceeder In the fall of that year we sponsored our first thrill, a hq dde A little later that vear our class enjoyed a oarty which was heldin the gym of our school As we returned in the fall of 1946, we realized after a week that many new members had joined our class They were Jack Augustine, Jerr, Callahan, Alice Carr, Harry Carr, Linda Evans, Elaine Everden, Wanda Fails, Ernest Glover, Karl Kreider, Albert Lasch, Martha Morrow, Dawn Neiger, Jerry Sherman, Robert Stoker, Fred Van Slyke, Margaret West and Donna Young But, then we also noticed that we had lost five members slnce last year Henry Brockway, Lawrence Eaton, Edward GNNH field, Geo ge Legeza, and Valgean Rexford Now that we know more about Class meetings it took us a shorter time to elect our officers at our first class meeting They were as follows President ..Tack Augustine Secretary Carol Wade Treasurer Robert Stoker On October 12th the now eight graders held a hayride wh1ch turned out to be so much fun esoecially with the chaperones Mr Jones and Mr. Servidio After paying our class dues we held another class party that year later in the term. Another summer rolled around and then in the fall of 1947 we pass ed through the doors of Sprin fleld High to oegin our Freshman year. This year we welcomed as new comers George Carson and Audrey Dodge, while losing Harry Carr,George Dohanic, Karl Kreider, Nellie Wilcox, and Joe Wilson With thirty nine members to choose from we electedtme . : ' I 1 0 0 0 I 0 . 0 , .
