Consisting of six-hundred and ten students from grades seven to twelve, West Snyder is located on the outskirts of Bea- ver Springs. The en- tire campus encom- passes only about fif- teen acres of land. Students attending this school come from the three communities of Beavertown, Beaver Springs, and McClure. When the admin- istration was asked what they considered to be the most favor- able feature of the school, they said that the small size of the school encourages friendly and personal relations between stu- dents and teachers. The small size allows for a reasonable stu- dent to teacher ratio so that students whd H606 individual help can acquire it easily. A Few Changes Throughout thg years at West Snyder, the opening day of school has been much the lsame. During the m0Pn1nS'S assembly, the students were made aware of the changes throughout the school. This year, West Snyder had quite a number of to be cont. next col. 19 7 Dorothy Bingaman, is not really new to West Snyder. Six years ago she taught in the com- mercial sections. Next is the new French teacher, Miss Marker, who was soon to become Mrs. Soltis. Our com- mercial department has also gained another faculty member, Miss Varner. Taking over in the chemistry de- partment is Mr. Stull who also teaches a science course. An- other addition to both the science and the math field is Mr. Whitesel. Our final addition to the fac- ulty was Mr. Schatko who will be teaching a new course, German. Students, about 650 of them, come from three towns, McClure, Beavertown, and Beaver Springs and their outlying areas. west Snyder is known for it's proficiency both scholastically and athletically. West Snyder's first year began in September of 1956, which produced a first graduating class of 52 seniors. There, were L82 students in that year in the grades 7- 12. Since the begin- ning, the size of the graduating classes has constantly been on the rise. The smallest graduatin class was 52 people?l957l.' The largest was 5hll972ls About l,l3B seniors graduated.
